From runaway cars and high-speed snowboard chases to a spectacular final mountaintop showdown, Cody has to use everything he's learned to prove himself as an agent and stop ERIS from completing their mission before their mission fails.
There are many secret agent/spy movies that are more or less influenced by the James Bond franchise. "Agent Cody Banks" is also one of them except for the fact that the secret agent in this film is an average 15-year-old boy trained by CIA in martial arts, fast car driving and worst-case-scenario situations. This is surely meant for young teen audiences and fortunately, it never steps beyond that boundary, making it a pretty decent film to watch.
The film follows ('steals' is a rather derogatory term for what it does) many concepts of the Bond movies... like cool technical gadgets, adventure-preferred action sequences, remote locations and yes, women, though here sex remains confined in some cleavage shots and few smart innuendos, which is perfectly matched with the basic concept of the film. There are a few enjoyable exceptions form "Bondism" too, like the fact that agent Banks sucks horribly when it comes to communicating with girls, or that he is a decent family kid dominated naturally by parents.
I think Cody Banks is a very well-thought character and Frankie Muniz does a fair job there. Hillary Duff struggles in this role and it's good they didn't waste too much screen time on her. It's safe to say that Angie Harmon, playing Cody's sexy mentor in the CIA, practically saved the movie when it comes to acting. She blends with the film's mentality quite nicely. The chemistry between her and Cody is a major asset of the film.
With an action comedy film having a couple of teenagers as the lead stars, I was expecting a movie with goofy humor, amateurish action scenes, typical teenage bop elements and sappy puppy love romance. However, this movie turned out to be a pretty pleasant viewing experience - a movie about shy teenager Cody Banks (Frankie Muniz), who is an undercover CIA agent under orders to date Natalie Connors (Hillary Duff) so he could spy on her scientist father, Dr. Connors (Martin Donovan).
The acting was actually pretty good - not over the top and not borderline irritating - and the plot to the movie flows quite steadily (not very fast-paced, but does not drag too much as well). While young and naive, Muniz and Duff did pull off their roles professionally and seriously. You'll get an old-fashion James Bond-style spy action and some very charming humor, and you'll get a good dose of special effects for its action scenes, but they are nothing too overdone or explosive.
I first saw this film on a plane and, while I don't remember too much from the film, I do recall it entertained me for the 102 minutes out of the multi-hour plane ride. Overall, it is not a bad movie for the entire family.

The real mission is product placement, of course: The movie seems to be set against the silvery backdrop of the Sharper Image catalog.
