Peter Parker balances his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens with his superhero alter-ego Spider-Man, and finds himself on the trail of a new menace prowling the skies of New York City. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May, under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark, Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine - distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man - but when the Vulture emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened. High-school superhero Peter Parker aspires to join the Avengers in his guise as Spider- Man

But during his 'internship', teenage woes and Tony Stark's contradictory mentorship only complicate his ambitions.........

Even though the title is quite the chin stroking one, this obviously refers to one of Marvels most famous characters returning to where he belongs, but with Sony and Columbia having ever such a small finger in this heroic pie......

.......and at times it shows.

Homecoming does entertain, Holland is wonderful as our favourite web slinger, and as you would expect, Keaton is wonderful as the antagonist, and just as Nicholson did to him in 1989, he steals the film from Holland.

It has all the elements you'd expect from the MCU, endless references to the universe, some really funny moments, most of them courtesy of Ned. Again, family, both nuclear and metaphorical are an important factor to the narrative, especially in one quite amazing plot twist, but I couldn't help but feel that something was missing.

For some reason, the class system is an important part of the narrative, We have Keaton explain it a little in the third act, his Vulture could almost be an evil Robin Hood, as he explains that it's the working class who suffer and people like Tony Stark reap the benefits from events like the final battle in The Avengers, which is quite an interesting element, but it never really gets focused on too much, which is a shame.

Culture and ethnicity plays a really important part of the narrative also, and this makes one certain twist in the film all the. More surprising.

Supporting cast are wonderful, but sorely underused. Tomei and Holland have great chemistry as Aunt and Nephew, but it needed to be focused on a little more, because there are times when their relationship feels a little 'Last Action Hero'. But Tomei does get the biggest laugh in the film, and you will understand why the BBFC classification includes the warning of 'obscured bad language'.

Some of the references are spoon fed to the audience, one particular scene where our hero is running through gardens to get somewhere references 'Ferris Bueller', which would have been funny if the makers didn't I literally have a garden where a group of people are watching said film.

Downey Jr. pops up every now and again to wind Spider-mans neck in, and he's as brilliant as expected, even though he's looking a little Al Pacino in this.

Favreau is also quite charming as Happy, and again, there is one scene where it appears he is finally warming to Parker, that gets a really funny punchline.

So all in all it's a film that doesn't just focus on teen angst and rebellion, it focuses on the class system, ethnicity, family matters, and and of course, great power and great responsibility, even though those words are never really uttered, thank heavens.

But something is missing, this could have been something wonderful, but Marvel don't really go as leftfield as they could have done. It feels like they knew that Spider-Man was a safe bet, so instead of being wonderful, it's just, good.

As always there is a post credits sequence, and it's the most pointless, but funniest one of all. It's almost mocking the audience. I hope that this will be the first Marvel Movie to create history and win some classic Academy Awards for the best picture. For instance, this movie deserves to win an award for the best CGI/Graphics. The second once should be deserved for most outstanding story-line. I sincerely hope that Robert Downey Jr. will win an Oscar for best supporting actor since the Iron Man role has always suited him perfectly. Michael Keaton should win one for best villain since he has made the Vulture come to life for the audience. I believe that Tom Holland still has a good way to go in the acting gig but he has exceeded expectations in this Homecoming Fiasco and, who knows, maybe he might actually bring home a couple of Oscars for himself when he becomes very well seasoned. :) Spider-Man: Homecoming is so joyously entertaining that it’s enough to temporarily cure any superhero fatigue. There’s wit, smarts and a nifty, inventive plot that serves as a reminder of what buoyant fun such films can bring. Yes. The film opens with some home movies Peter made about his trip to Berlin. The main villain is "The Vulture" (Michael Keaton). The Vulture is a classic villain from the original Marvel comic books and was originally going to appear in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 4" before that sequel was scrapped. Yes, there's a mid-credit scene that sets up "The Sinister Six" and an inconsequential snippet with Captain America at the very end of the credits. a5c7b9f00b
