Dr. Paul Kersey is an experienced trauma surgeon, a man who has spent his life saving lives. After an attack on his family, Paul embarks on his own mission for justice.
Dr. Kersey is going about living his life, until one dreadful day. Paul Kersey's family is endangered, Dr. Kersey swears revenge upon those who had wronged him, and from there everything changes. He will do anything in his power to make sure these anonymous men pay.
It's a classic Bruce Willis action film, something bad/ unfortunate happens and then the action starts. I expected more action this is why the 8 and not a 10 also Bruce gets old and you can see that, but still he is a badass .
There are countless movies like this. It doesn't do much new, but is still fun to watch. It has some humor, some drama, some politics (in the form of youtube/podcast commentary) and of course action.
Bruce Willis is basically acting the wat he always does, this time as a surgeon who looses his wife and decides to become a vigilante, looking for the people that killed his wife, and taking down some thugs along the way. Who, what or how, you will have to see for yourself, though some ways were a little creative and brutal.
The movie knows how to capture the brutallity of the situation at times, but some serious scenes are then followed up by a 80's montage that for me broke the flow a little. But I did care for the main character and was rooting for him.
So deffinately go watch it if you like Bruce Willis's work in the past. It's not Die Hard, so don't expect non-stop action. To me it reminded me a little of Taken. Hope this review was usedul to help you decide wether or not to go see it.
Eli Roth and screenwriter Joe Carnahan could have done the same thing, manifesting the rages and fears that afflict the country we live in right now. Instead they offer a cheap and dishonest Death Wish that (references to social media notwithstanding) is interchangeable with get-tough knockoffs that have flooded cinemas for decades.
