The Amazing Race is a show in which teams of two travel around the world, following clues and completing tasks in order to reach their final destination and win a prize of one million dollars. The Amazing Race is one of the best reality shows that television has to offer. Sure, it has travel, soured relations, and inner-emotions-human-drama that people seem to eat up, but it also leaves most of its competitors and viewers with a sense of what the world is like outside of his or her own secure borders. As the competitors race, they are introduced to completely different cultures, some of which a few of the teams cannot handle, and every season, it seems that the racers are faced with a third-world country in which they (usually) learn to appreciate what they have. It opens their eyes. The Amazing Race does one of two things to the couple that competes: it either rips them apart or bonds them closer to one another. Because the competition is with teams of two, competitors cannot just decide what they will do and play by their own strategies--they must consult with their teammates and take them into consideration. The relationships going on and coming off this show, and the worldly drama that it makes so real, makes the show worthy of any and all nominations for awards that it has and may receive in the future. As a fan from episode one, I can recommend this series to anybody.
There are hundreds of reality shows on television now, all over the world, but only one captures the excitement. fun, drama, exhilaration, competition and intelligence of a great show. That show is The Amazing Race. Eleven paired contestants travel all over the world completing objectives and challenges on their way to the final "Pit Stop" of the day. Not only are these challenges physical, but all mental and frustrating. Players have to keep it together with themselves and their partner if they are to make it to the end ahead of everyone else. The last couple who makes it to the "Pit-Stop" is usually eliminated. The show is so fun to watch not only for the incredible locations and exciting race on foot, in car, by plane and train through each city, but also because of all the drama between contestants and their partners. Many partners are so competitive, that they get frustrated with their partner or themselves and it shows on camera in many different ways. Every episode is a blast to watch. you never know what's going to happen next or what location they will travel to. It's fun seeing the world and culture of other people. It's even more fun watching the couples navigate though an unfamiliar environment. One wrong turn or flat tire could push them into last place. There are other great reality shows like American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance. Top Chef, Chopped, America's Got Talent, but none of them are as creative or interesting as The Amazing Race. No wonder it's already on it's 18th season, as they've decided to do 2 seasons a year now. The show is so popular. Definitely check this show out.
Teams cannot check in to the pit stop without all of their travel documents. If they arrive at the pit stop without them, they must go back and retrieve them before they can be officially checked in. In Season 15, Zev and Justin were eliminated because they arrived at the pit stop without a passport and were unable to find it in time.
However if a team loses their passport during a non elimination round, but the following leg does not require them to use their passport to leave the country, they may proceed but must locate and produce their passport on the next leg as seen in Season 21, episode 8. Teams actually purchase four tickets when they travel: two for them, one for the camera man, and one for the sound man, but each team also tapes a shot asking for two tickets to avoid breaking the fourth wall.
