In 2018, Skynet has destroyed most of humanity and survivors have been hiding underground from an army of machines, known as "Terminators". After a failed attack on a Skynet base, John Connor, the man fated to lead the Resistance is the sole survivor. On the other hand, Marcus Wright, who only remembers being on death row, meets Kyle Reese and it is believed by Connor that he was sent from the future to kill him. Now Marcus and John must unlikely join forces in order to save Kyle Reese and the humans captured by the machines. In the not too distant future, John Connor is a key member of the resistance against the machines that have taken over the Earth. From the recordings his mother has left him, he knows he has to find Kyle Reese and send him back to Earth if the future is to occur as it should. Reese is just a teenager now, on the run like many other humans. While in the company of another survivor, Marcus Wright, Kyle is taken prisoner by the machines and transported to Skynet's headquarters in San Francisco. Connor sets out to rescue him but is shocked by Wright's true nature. Not all is at it seems to be and success is far from guaranteed. I had great expectations about this film being a Terminator 1 and 2 movies fan , thinking it would be much better than the mediocre "Terminator 3" but I was wrong because T4 is not just bad but it is also very boring.

I didn't like the plot that is more focused in the Marcus character than the one that we all care about which is John Connor, who in this opportunity is played by the wooden Christian Bale (I don't even like him in the Batman movies). I found the action scenes just OK, there was nothing new. The only thing I liked about T4 was the character of Blair Williams (I love her), which reminded me Sarah Connor, even though she has a limited screen time.

It is 2018 and the humanity live in a post apocalyptic world. John Connor is one of the leaders of the Resistance who fights against the machines from the Skynet system, but in this opportunity he will be able to meet his still teenager father Kyle Reese and Marcus a mysterious man who may help him to destroy the Skynet system or maybe not .......

4 starts = Boring As you probably have guessed from the title, I didn't like this film. Thinking about it, it may have been okay as a stand alone film but putting it into the Terminator franchise is just shameful.

There are a lot of mixed reviews on here about this film but I, for one am severely disappointed. So here's some of the storyline: teenage Reese gets captured. John Connor has to save him. And here's the rest of the storyline: oh wait..thats it! Sticking in some extra characters made the film a bit more interesting but pretty much they were only there to pad out the plot.

Addmittedly, some of the special effects were good but I think the film focused too much on them and especially chase scenes rather than developing the characters. I'm on the fence with the acting in this film. Whilst some of the actors were really good and actually made you feel some emotion towards them, others were pretty damn bad. I don't know if it was down to the director or the actor but I think Christian Bale should stick to his Batman films, which he actually acts well in. He didn't exactly act as if he cared about anyone. Maybe it sounds like i'm over exaggerating a bit but its true. Horror films usually use characters as a way to travel through the story. The Terminator franchise comprise of characters we're meant to care about.

And how predictable was this film really? It was pretty obvious what the ending had to be otherwise it wouldn't fit in with the first three films. Also, it was pretty predictable with what had happened to Sam Worthington's character at the beginning of the movie, although for a main character in this film, we didn't get to know much about him. I guess though, that may have been because there were too many characters in this film that it focused on.

Yes I realise this is probably a very long winded review but I needed to rant about this poor excuse of a film. I recommend people who are huge fans of the original 3 not to watch this utter rubbish as it's hardly relevant in terms of the story, probably just an excuse for the company involved to make more money on it. If you take this film as a stand alone movie however then maybe you WILL enjoy it. Darker, grimmer and more stylistically single-minded than its two relatively giddy predecessors, Terminator Salvation boasts the kind of singular vision that distinguished the James Cameron original, the full-throttle kinetics of "Speed" and an old-fashioned regard for human (and humanoid) heroics. In 2018, 14 years since Judgment Day (July 25th, 2004) started the world war between humans and Skynet machines, Resistance leader John Connor (Christian Bale) is searching for his father, Kyle Reese, the man whom John must send back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), from being killed by the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a cyborg sent by Skynet to prevent Sarah from ever giving birth to John. Meanwhile, teenage Kyle (Anton Yelchin) has joined forces with the criminal Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), the only one to have survived a nuclear attack on Skynet's Cyberdyne Systems base. Soon their paths are going to cross. Terminator: Salvation is the fourth movie in the Terminator series, preceded by The Terminator (1984) (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) (1991) and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) (2003), and followed by Terminator Genisys (2015) (2015). The screenplay for Terminator: Salvation was written by American screenwriters John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris. The movie was subsequently novelized by American scifi writer Alan Dean Foster in 2009. All trailers for the Terminator Salvation feature film can be viewed here. Hydrobot, T-1 Unit, Aerostat, Harvester, Mototerminator, Aerial Hunter-Killer, Transport, Ground Hunter-Killer, T-600, T-700, T-800, T-R.I.P. (Resistance Infiltrator Prototype), and Marcus. Dr. Serena Kogen was originally scripted to be a Terminator, but the idea was scrapped in rewrites. Marcus was a criminal who was executed in 2003. He donated his body to Project Angel headed by Serena Kogen, which was involved with Skynet. They take his body and make him into a Terminator; Marcus is probably the most human cyborg Skynet created, a prototype endoskeleton, the frame is not mentioned (he is not a T-800, the chest plate when shown is completely different as well as his hand seen in the end, also he is smaller in height). Marcus still possesses his human heart and brain with a chip at the base of his skull that wirelessly connects him directly to Skynet. Marcus believes he is human, and everyone he meets does not even suspect he is a machine. It's possible that Skynet anticipated this while building him and created a special type of metal alloy that is extremely light weight but near indestructible in order for him to appear as human as possible. It's stated that he is the only one of his kind, so it's possible his metal endoskeleton weighs no more than a human skeleton would, or perhaps just slightly heavier. Therefore, he has the ability to float and run much faster. He also feels pain, making him even more unusual and may have been a deliberate design characteristic used by Skynet to make him seem more human to any humans he encounters. According to the book, he walks on the bottom instead of swimming. In the film, he appears to be swimming as he leaves Connor, but only using his right arm. Also, the water didn't seem to be very deep to begin with, just over knee-high. One counterargument about the metal of his skeleton being light weight: when he's being carried into the infirmary of Connor's command center, one of the people carrying him says "this guy weighs a ton" (a line we hear in Terminator 3) so he obviously weighs more than a human of his size and build. When Marcus was built, Skynet made use of at least part of his human brain, which is vulnerable to trauma. Though it was well-protected in his cyborg skull, it probably still could be knocked around inside the casing or simply structurally disturbed by inertia/torsion, and Marcus blacked out when Barnes hit him. The brain of a normal human, encased in it's skull, is actually quite well protected and even pressurized slightly to absorb normal shocks associated with sudden head movement however, as we're all aware, a blow to the head can cause unconsciousness or concussion. Marcus' brain probably has similar characteristics. In The Terminator, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) stated that the resistance mostly fought at night, but they still had to be very cautious moving around due to the HKs' use of infrared. This movie takes place in 2018, not 2029. Tactical plans could have changed between those two time periods. Perhaps they started out doing missions in the day and later realized it would be more beneficial if they fought at night. Another theory suggests that it's General Ashdown (Michael Ironside)'s decision to fight during the day, since John Connor (Christian Bale) isn't the leader of the resistance just yet, and Ashdown is a very arrogant and headstrong leader. Even with Connor's advice, Ashdown would likely ignore it. In this film, Reese (Anton Yelchin) says that they fight during the day because machines have infrared technology, making them more dangerous at night time, seeing as how infrared would be harder to lock onto a target during a hot sunny day than on a cool dark night. (The tactics and technology may have been switched from the original film and this film because the technology surrounding infrared has improved significantly since 1984, thus making it more effective at night.) a5c7b9f00b
