Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy, endowed with stretching powers from the legendary gum-gum devil's fruit, travels toward the Grand Line in search of One Piece, the greatest treasure in the world. There once lived a pirate named Gol D. Roger. He obtained wealth, fame, and power to earn the title of Pirate King. When he was captured and about to be executed, he revealed that his treasure called One Piece was hidden somewhere at the Grand Line. This made all people set out to search and uncover the One Piece treasure, but no one ever found the location of Gol D. Roger's treasure, and the Grand Line was too dangerous a place to overcome. Twenty-two years after Gol D. Roger's death, a boy named Monkey D. Luffy decided to become a pirate and search for Gol D. Roger's treasure to become the next Pirate King.
One Piece, what a simple title for a manga. You first read that name and wonder what's it about a bathing suit, a place, your not sure. You then open the pages or watch the first seconds of the anime and learn that the story is really about a world of pirates and that One Piece is actually a treasure that once belonged to Gold Roger (later you learn his real name is Gol D. Roger and that he is connected to something call the Will of D. good stuff) who was considered the Pirate King, the dream of all pirates to be. HE was executed 20 years before the story began and before he died told the world that his treasure was waiting for whoever could find it at the end of the Grand Line. You then come to the story of Monkey D. Luffy (wink wink maybe there is a connection between the two). Luffy is a naive, happy, curious teenager with a body of rubber which he got from eating a devil fruit ( a powerful fruit which gives the eater amazing powers but robs their ability to even swim, drowning them if they even try to swim, you find out there are hundreds out there and each with different abilities) Luffy dreams of being the pirate king and to be better than his mentor Red Hair Shanks one of the most powerful pirates on the sea. Luffy on his adventures meets new and exciting people and his crew gets larger along the way first his first mate and swordsman Roronoa Zoro, the sniper Ussop, the cook Sanji, the navigator and thief Nami, the doctor Tony Tony Chopper, the archaeologist Nico Robin, the shipwright Franky, and the musician Brook. One thing that sets this crew apart from all other pirate crews is not only is there crew much smaller then the others but also that each has their own special dream and are the best at their specific job. As you read the story you find out that each crew member has their own strengths and weaknesses but that they also wouldn't be around if each crew member wasn't their to help, making each person invaluable to the crew. Also you find out that unlike what many people believe Luffy is not your typical pirate he doesn't go from port to port robbing and pillaging the innocent people he actually has helped many people with problems with other pirates and can't see a friend hurt. Whats also interesting is while their are good and bad pirates the World Government which are the leaders of the world, which who are suppose to help the people are also bad and good and that the leaders have a dark secret that you begin to learn about much later. All in all the story is so well done not one arc is wasted, not one character is wasted, even minor characters get their story told and you learn of their dreams. Eiichiro Oda brings so much emotion to this story. You will cry I promise you even the toughest of guys will cry in some arcs. You will laugh there is no doubt about it the crew is just to crazy for you not to laugh. You will cheer for the crew and hiss at the bad guys. There is nothing more I can say about One Piece it is an experience that will touch you and make you rethink mangas. You will soon love One Piece as much as me and thousands if not millions of others do to.
I look back on the day when I first watched One Piece, from the younger days of Luffy, as the main character, to an amazing journey on the Grand Line with thousands of other memorable characters, and I must say, I never regretted it. Combining the best of a great storyline, stellar cast, slapstick over-the-top humour / comedy, and outstanding themes of love, loyalty, betrayal, greed and much more, this anime series has never failed to enthrall me in all my delightful episode screenings numbering well over 200 episodes now, whether it be on a fine morning, a dreary rainy afternoon or sleepless nights.
I can only hope to express what I feel about this great classic of an anime series only so much here. No, there was never such a speculation that all three of them are related with one another. Makino is only Luffy's friend while Shanks is his role model as well as a friend. Nothing more. Usopp is one month older than Luffy. Sanji is 8 months older than Zoro. Nami: 36-22-34. Nico Robin: 39-23-35. This was explained in the manga. When Luffy was a kid, he stabbed himself under the eye to prove to Red-Haired Shanks that he was a man. That scene was excluded from the anime. It's because her attitude is more mature than the other crew members. Plus she's been through a lot of dark moments in her life which results to her not being scared or surprised so easily. In the manga it stated he couldn't swim that well. That hasn't been explained yet. Any characters that have a "D." for a middle initial are part of the "Will of D". It's meaning is yet to be revealed. Commi Island Gecko Island Dawn Island There are tiny changes in certain story arcs as well as an addition of filler episodes that usually take place after a canon story arc. or sometimes within a story arc. Occasionally some of the manga material that is removed is due to the material being inappropriate for the anime. However the plot and flow of the anime remains true to the original manga's plot and story.
There are rare moments when a plot element in the anime contradicts the material in the manga but that is usually before the manga chapter to where that plot element becomes known is officially released, so there is no way for the show's production crew to know of this. This consisted of Zoro's ability to cut steel prior to the release of the Alabasta Arc chapters and the limit to Chopper's Rumble Ball consumption prior to the manga chapters of the CP9 saga. One prime example, is that throughout the manga on the cover pages for the chapters there are what is defined as a mini-arc, that has a character that the Straw Hats encountered before (Usually a defeated villain) having their own adventures. In fact some of these mini-arcs do affect the main story later on. While a few were used in the anime, many were not, which led to some unexplained occurrences in the anime's plot (such as Jango becoming a Marine, or Hatchi opening his takoyaki stand). Several characters that appeared in the later chapters and the anime were originally introduced in the cover arcs such as the Marine's Vice Admiral Garp who was the first character introduced in a mini-arc and was later added to the regular story.
One example of the anime's plot contradicting the plot set by a manga mini-arc plot is where in the manga Iron Fist Fullbody was demoted from a Lieutenant to a Sea Man Recruit as a condition to allowing the former Black Cat Pirate Jango to join the Marines. In the anime he was demoted for tarnishing the image of the marines for his humiliation when he was beaten by Sanji. This was mentioned when Fullbody and his men encountered the Straw Hats shortly after Luffy's first bounty is released in a scene that did not occur in the manga.It was hinted that it takes place in the year 1522 in one episode. But please note that it's an alternate time period in an another world.
There is a point where there is a time skip to two years later making the year: 1524. No, once a person eats a certain devil fruit, there won't be another of the same fruit again until that person who holds that devil fruit power dies. As revealed in the Punk Hazard arc, when a Devil Fruit user dies their Devil Fruit is reincarnated into a nearby fruit that is the same type of fruit when it was first eaten by the user allowing someone else to inherit those powers when they eat it. The only known character to eat a reincarnated Devil Fruit is Luffy and Ace's childhood friend Sabo, who ate the reincarnated Mera-Mera Fruit, allowing Sabo to inherit Ace's former Devil Fruit powers. Only Blackbeard's fruit has the ability to consume a devil fruit from a dead body which prevents it from being reincarnated. They'll die, which this fact was revealed in Chapter 385 during the Enies Lobby arc. However,in the manga Chapter 577, Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard), was able to use an unknown procedure to gain the ability to use the Devil Fruit Powers of Edward Newgate (Whitebeard), though the manga hasn't explained how this happened yet .
