A young girl risks everything to prevent a powerful, multinational company from kidnapping her best friend - a fascinating beast named Okja. For 10 idyllic years, young Mija (An Seo Hyun) has been caretaker and constant companion to Okja-a massive animal and an even bigger friend-at her home in the mountains of South Korea. But that changes when a family-owned multinational conglomerate Mirando Corporation takes Okja for themselves and transports her to New York, where image obsessed and self-promoting CEO Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton) has big plans for Mija's dearest friend. With no particular plan but single-minded in intent, Mija sets out on a rescue mission, but her already daunting journey quickly becomes more complicated when she crosses paths with disparate groups of capitalists, demonstrators and consumers, each battling to control the fate of Okja...while all Mija wants to do is bring her friend home. Deftly blending genres, humor, poignancy and drama, Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer, The Host) begins with the gentlest of premises-the bond between man and animal-and ultimately creates a distinct and layered vision of the world that addresses the animal inside us all. Okja is a Plan B Entertainment, Lewis Pictures and Kate Street Picture Company production in association with Netflix. and I thought Cloud atlas was unwatchable. this was by far the most unwatchable movie ever. Netflix your better than this. Maybe bring more Netflix series like the OA or stranger things next time. I skipped every scene that was just painful to sit through as an audience and got to the end in a total of 15 minutes. That ending tho, where all the pigs in that Auschwitz looking farm mooed all together? i mean please... their f-ing pigs, gimme a break. In conclusion this was another cringe worthy film that you Don't wanna watch just because it was on the front cover when you went in Netflix. A movie that is going to awaken your inner animal love and it might turn you vegan. I mean you will definitely think about it.this movie shows what a human can do for love even if it's for an animal.you are going to get back any possible way. the natural landmarks in the movie are marvelous. A 2D animation of this story would have been so good and famous Okja is plenty of fun, and smart around the edges, but the girl-and-her-pig stuff can drag, and it feels like it’s pressing for resonance more than properly achieving it. a5c7b9f00b
