The harrowing true story of the crew of the USS Indianapolis, who were stranded in the Philippine Sea for five days after delivering the atomic weapons that would eventually end WWII. As they awaited rescue, they endured extreme thirst, hunger, and relentless shark attacks.
During World War II, an American navy ship is sunk by a Japanese submarine leaving 300 crewmen stranded in shark infested waters.
I found this a nice movie, with good effects and the acting ranged from great to sometimes laughable.
This movie was fun and fast paced, yet had good humor and commodore. I am not sure why someone dislikes this movie outside of demonizing the sharks...yeah.....crazy leftist.
Cage was excellent, and you did love his character till the end. The movie did have some unbelievable moments, the sharks and some hokey stuff but all in all very watchable movie.
I highly recommend, 8 out of 10. Do not left the fake hipster historians detract you from this enjoyable film; it is a fun, entertaining and somewhat heartfelt film.
An actual true story I was expecting an amazing film but wow was this hard to watch! The start is like something from a cartoon not a big budget film from 2016! some of the scenes looked like props from a school play. terrible acting from all. Look at the scenes from top-gun on the ship real very tense this was more like a local theater show. Completely ruined this story just awful. Id racked my brain to find some part of it that was at least watchable but its really bad the start is just unbearable. Cage is not 1 of my favs but this was a terrible part as its meant to be a tense film but doesn't come close it was actually embarrassing to watch the acting honest I've seen better effects and acting from Sinbad the sailor. I pray that its just me and every one else enjoyed it but not me I'm afraid
Director Mario Van Peebles brings real tension and excitement to the scenes where these men are surrounded by predators, but the tone of the film is awkwardly split between the grit of modern cinema and the boisterous adventure of old Hollywood.
