The Black Widow uses her cerebrum short-circuiting device to rob bank after bank in Gotham City. Batman and Robin soon catch up with her, but actually capturing the villainess proves harder than expected. Despite her nerve paralyzer spray, and two remote-control dummies that try to throw the Dynamic Duo off course, they finally make it inside the Black Widow's lair. But soon after entering, they are trapped in a giant web with two deadly black widow spiders. "Black Widow Strikes Again" finds producer William Dozier continuing his policy of employing longtime Hollywood favorites as 'Special Guest Villains,' in this case the final role of legendary socialite 'Miss Tallulah Bankhead,' who lived another 21 months but looks to be at death's door on screen, struggling at times to deliver her dialogue. Tallulah's Black Widow is the widow of Max Black, whose favorite phrase was 'money can't buy happiness,' cleverly turned around by the widow Black as 'happiness can't buy money!' Henchman Tarantula (Donald Barry) drives her all around town from one bank to another in alphabetical order, using her brain scrambler to force each manager to give up the requested funds without complaint. When the Dynamic Duo visit the next bank on her list, they encounter none other than George Raft, real life gangster turned actor, still flipping the same silver dollar he began using in the 1932 Howard Hawks "Scarface." Longtime Western veteran Donald Barry had previously played the Grand Vizier opposite Victor Buono's King Tut, while the tall henchman Daddy Longlegs was played by Mike Lane, best remembered as Boris Karloff's bandaged creation in 1958's "Frankenstein - 1970." Good gags abound, such as all the bank managers being named Irving, among them Grady Sutton from W.C. Fields' "The Bank Dick," and the unusual roles for George Chandler and Meg Wylie as Grampa and Grandma, their odd vocalizations a tip off to the whereabouts of Black Widow's hideout (Batman: "thought they'd be off their rockers by now, eh Robin?"). Her neutralizing spider venom spray merely delays the arrival of the Caped Crusaders, to be literally caught in the spider's web as a potential meal for the eight legged creatures within. a5c7b9f00b
