This is jaw dropping!! Although it's mostly intense, It has its moments where you laugh and cry. Truly historical and brilliant. My heart is saddened by the death of Ragnor (Fimmel) I can't even picture the next season without him in it! brilliant acting by Fimmel but what an addition in Jonathan Rhys Meyers! Ryhs Myer will add the energy the show will miss from the loss of Fimmel but if the opportunity presented itself and both of them are on screen at the same time, that would be electrifying! Can't wait to binge watch season 5!
The fourth season of History Channel's violent Viking epic continues to tell the tale of King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel who will be in the upcoming Warcraft movie, after his assault on Paris. In the first half of the fourth season, Ragnar has left his brother Rollo, played by Clive Standen, in ancient France to make political maneuvers but it turns out his brother, who has always had a bad relationship with his more powerful brother, has sided with the French, married the emperor's daughter, and pledged to defend the city against the Vikings.
Floki, played by Gustaf Skarsgård, reaps the punishment of killing Ragnar's friend the priest. Floki has always been a bit crazy but the torture he endures in this season helps to push him over the edge. Still he manages to make it through the battles throughout the episodes in his dark eye shadow with the help of the gods.

This is common in English-speaking produced movies and TV shows. Generally the characters speak English when they are talking among themselves. But it's implied they are still speaking their native tongue. The Vikings are generally speaking Icelandic since it is the language closest to Old Norse, the language of the Vikings. They also use some words from Swedish and Danish, though we *hear* it as English. When speaking with foreign characters, such as characters from England, they speak in Icelandic and we see subtitles. This is to show the English characters can't understand them.
Where it gets confusing to some viewers is that the English characters are often speaking Old English when among the Vikings, which can sound very similar to Swedish to an untrained ear.
