In futuristic Tokyo , the police have become privatized and are in an ongoing battle with a race of super criminals known as Engineers , which have the ability to turn any injured body part into a weapon . The no.1 engineer hunter , a samurai wielding assassin named Ruka , hunts them to uncover her father's killer.
Set in a future-world vision of Tokyo where the police have been privatized and bitter self-mutilation is so casual that advertising is often specially geared to the "cutter" demographic, this is the story of samurai-sword-wielding Ruka and her mission to avenge her father's assassination. Ruka is a cop from a squad whose mission is to destroy homicidal mutant humans known as "engineers" possessing the ability to transform any injury to a weapon in and of itself.
"Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl" director Yoshihiro Nishimura and scenarists Kengo Kaji and Sayako Nakoshi have fashioned the most outlandishly extreme sci-fi, horror satire this side of David Croneberg. This adventurous 110-minute mayhem ranks as the bloodiest, goriest, homicidal, mutant manhunt melodrama about death, dismemberment, sexuality, and mutilation that you will ever see--if you can stomach it--and it never takes itself seriously! The English dubbing adds to the overall hilarity. Scattered throughout "Tokyo Gore Police" are faux commercials and Public Service Announcements--in the tradition of director Paul Verhoeven's "RoboCop" and "Starship Troopers"--that advocate the advantages of self-mutilation and the disadvantages of committing harakiri. The box-cutters which come in four various colors for the budding babe who wants to slash her wrists to shreds in a real hoot! Nothing is either too bizarre or too grotesque in this imaginative splatter-gore-fest.
The delirious, high-octane action unfolds in the not-too-distant future after the metropolitan Tokyo Police have been privatized. The basic story concerns our heroine whose father was shot in the head at point blank range by another man who was the father of the guys standing behind our heroine when everything went down. Now, the police and our heroine must contend with the most incredible nemeses--referred to here as engineers--and these engineers can survive the worst that the samurai-clad, assault weapons-wielding police can mete out. These psychotic serial killers have genetically mutated bodies which enable them to withstand the worst wounds and then bio-fuse those hideous wounds with weapons. (Anybody remember Ash (Bruce Campbell) from "Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness" with the chainsaw attached to his wrist?) The most incredible--and disgusting example of a wound fused with a weapon depending on your point of view--is the guy who has his penis shot off. His sex organ comes back as a three or four foot-long appendage that fires what could qualify as bazooka shells!
So lethal are these murderers that the Tokyo Police have formed a special squad to eliminate them. The chief hunter of this squad is Ruka (Eihi Shiina of "Audition") who runs around dressed like a high school girl in black high-top boots, white shirt, black tie, and a hair-splitting, razor-edged samurai sword. Ruka does not play. She slashes with surgical abandon. Hunting our resourceful heroine is the Key Man (Itsuji Itao), an insane scientist who has let his well-intentioned aims pervert himself in his crusade against serial killers.
Basically, Key Man has injected himself with genes from the worst serial killers in the world and transformed himself into the worst of the worst. Moreover, he has unleashed these engineers on Tokyo, and they go around killing prostitutes, gangsters, and innocent bystanders. They do not kill like most killers. You see them stab their poor victims with slender metal pipes, attach bottles to the pipes, drain the bodies of blood, hack them up into quarter-sections, and then neatly stack them in receptacles. The first engineer is a wild man with a chainsaw attached to his arm. For the record, Nishimura created the special effects for "Machine Girl." "Tokyo Gore Police" bristles with one shocking surprise after another shocking surprise and never degenerates into boredom. The violence is as extreme as extreme can be. In one scene, a mutant girl rips off the penis from a man with whom she is having oral sex. Key Man shows up to drill a hole in the ankle of their victim, but the victim surprises them and whips out his small submachine gun and riddles the evil girl until she has no legs from the knees down. As the man without a penis tries to escape, the engineer girl mutates so that her thighs turn into the grisly jaws of a crocodile, and she munches on the unfortunate victim. Our heroine eventually learns that her murdered father had a secret, too.
Believe me, unless you can handle extreme, over-the-top displays of gore, "Tokyo Gore Police" is not for you.
I love Japan cinema take on every genre sometime it can be deeply disturbing and thought-provoking like Takashi Miike Audition or sometime it can be over the top and batsh*t crazy like this movie Tokyo Gore Police.With the plot just as much crazy this movie will may sure to satisfied any gorehound fan while watching the bloody journey to revenge of a female cop named Ruka played by the lead actor of Audition Eihi Shiina.The practical effect in this movie is top notch with any insane idea you can imagine in a body horror movie.Non of the characters are normal so the line between good and evil is very blurry.Don't think while watching this movie or else your brain may hurt just sit back and enjoy the wild experience Tokyo Gore Police give you
