Upon discovering a den of corrupt policemen, a fresh-faced journalist makes shaky allies in a jaded reporter and investigator for a powerful district attorney.
Josh Pollack, a naive and ambitious reporter, is convinced the F.R.A.T., an elite force within the Edison Police Department, is corrupted. Working on a homicide case, he begins to unearth evidence which suggests that the entire justice system is willingly turning a blind eye to the abuses of the this force. When his life and that of his girlfriend are threatened from his research, he join forces with his editor, a once-famous reporter, and a renown private detective to bring down the F.R.A.T. and every one behind it.
I had never heard of this film before I saw it on the video store shelf, but I figured with a cast like Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Cary Elwes, LL Cool J (who has become a surprisingly good actor), etc. that it couldn't be all bad, even if it did star Justin Timberlake. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Is this a Oscar worthy film? Can Justin act? No, not really.
But the fact is, this movie held my attention. It has a pretty good story that moves along quite nicely and all in all was enjoyable. Even Justin's acting only made me laugh a couple of times, which was a lot less than I expected.
Would I recommend this film? Yeah, on a rainy day when there's nothing better to do and nothing on TV, I'd give it a whirl. Just keep your expectations low on this one and you shouldn't be (too) disappointed.
If you watched this movie you know why I said "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus". Hehehe!!! Every time they said "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus"... I laughed thinking "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, why did I rent this movie"? I cannot believe how Oscar winners like Freeman and Spacey appeared here in the background while Timberlake and LL Cool J grabbed the screen. WTF is Timberlake? Dreaful acting! I think someone like Joshua Jackson could have done a much better job! This job was perfect for Joshua Jackson and believe me I am not a big fun of him... but I really prefer an actor, not this android called Timberlake. And his girlfriend was shallow, hollow and annoying as hell. I was happy when they both were popped in the street.
The story was OK and I think Dylan Mc Dermott did his bad guy role very well. The movie was entertaining but I think Timberlake ruined it all. It would have been much enjoyable without him.
By the way, the music was OK, but suddenly every time the music appeared the movie turned into a MTV video clip with flashes, low motion and things like that. Something misplaced for this cops movie I thought. Maybe they wanted to make a MTV video clip for Timberlake.
