Set in 2039-2040, This series is set in Megalo City, a city built over the ruins of Tokyo. Boomers, a line of android workers created by the Genom Corporation, perform dozens of tasks, from cleaning to management, to heavy industry. However, a strange series of events has caused a great deal of these boomers to go rogue, despite government and corporation cover-ups to the contrary. The AD Police, a special anti-Boomer task-force, performs it's best to stop the maniacal machines. However, always a step ahead of them are the mysterious vigilantes known only to the public as the Knight Sabers. No one is sure who these warriors are, but a young office lady named Lina Yamazaki is intent on finding out and joining them.
When I started watching 3 of the episodes of this series on the Action Channel,I have to say out of all the shows that I've seen that ADV released,this one is one of the best shows of all time. I had to see it again,and that's when I got my chance. I bought the entire box set of this series at Best Buy for my 20th Birthday. And I got to enjoy it,and see more of the episodes that I missed on Action Channel,and the same 3 episodes that I've seen. My favorite characters in this show are: Sylvia,Leon,and Nigel. The animation in this series was the best,and the hard suits were cool as well. But the show also has a great voice cast like:Chris Patton,Jason Douglas,Christine Auten,and Hillary Haag,and more. So if you like this show on Action Channel,then you have to own it on DVD. It's the best,and you will see what I mean.
This one was actually better then the original Bubblegum Crisis 2032 because I liked the character designs better while I did like the original character designs however...
I liked also how everyone of the characters is far more human given her issues and background Priss is shown in a more real light as is Sylia (particularly when her past is revealed) also I liked the Linna far better then the 2032 Linna (whom I disliked!) because she was someone you could identify with and her joining the Knight Sabers was a nice touch. Also Nene remains my favorite in this (though she was my favorite in 2032) she is more confident and aggressive but still cute, funny and bubbly.
Also what they did with the Boomers took me aback when I first watched as were the changes in GENOM characters and the AD Police in all everyone were far more interesting characters then they were in the original 2032.
So by far this is a great remake and re-telling of the original and in a rarity it actually works!
