Alpha (Zach Ward) and Bravo (Emerson Brooks) operatives of T.W.O, a worldwide private military, are tasked with protecting Cordova, a Mexican politician running for a reelection. But when the Devil's Cartel has made Cordova their number one target, their fight is taken to Alpha and Bravo.
Two rookies Alpha and Bravo take against the mexican drug cartel. Lots of choices with fire power and tactics to go against their rival in order to catch up with their not so good of a friend. Co-op 1-2 players - 50 story objectives with higher tension each mission.
Why... Why did they do this? Unlike its predecessor, this game is complete disaster. They have removed everything good about the old game (e.g co-op mock surrenders, morality choices)and replaced it with 'overkill mode'... wow.
First off the 'story'. Basically non existent, you play as two new characters; Alpha and Bravo, two mind numbingly uninteresting characters that are painfully cheesy. Rios and Salem are also tag along for about 10 minutes. That reminds me, I was given a MORALITY CHOICE in the 40th day where I killed Rios but yet somehow he magically reappears. This game also features one of the most predictable plot twists of all time.
Gameplay is boring, you take cover and gun down some of the worst AI I have ever seen. They will unnecessarily run at you, allowing you to blow them away without even thinking. As far as co-op game play goes the most intense it will get is covering a friend or friendly AI with a machine gun, the odd split pathway is also thrown in. There is no multi-player as the developers said they wanted to focus on a intense CO-OP campaign when really all they have created is a tedious mess. Some minor customisation is featured: different outfits and masks, guns and attachments.
I would not suggest this game to anybody, pick up Army of TWO: the 40th day for half the price if your looking for a decent co-op game. Wasted of money.
EA decided to go a new route with Army of Two. Instead of Rios and Salem (protagonists from Army of Two and Army of Two 40th day) we are introduced to Alpha and Bravo. Two newbie mercs in the T.W.O. company. Instead of the genuine relationship between Salem and Rios from the previous games we have to sit through two characters that fight better alone than side-by-side, and who's prepubertal "Yo mama" and "That's what she said"-jokes gets old pretty fast. The two are less of an army, but two random characters that just ended up on the same team. We are also introduced to Fiona, a character we are supposed to care about but who only shows up when the story needs to go forward.
To add more to the crap pile, the story is nothing but clichés! The "twists" are obvious from the first pixel. The moral issues are just a drag. The character development is non existent. And then there is the "Overkill" function, that basically let you walk through the track in 60 seconds like a desperate noob.
The few good things about the game is handling and game design. Some cool new masks but that is it. Other than that I will just recommend 40th day instead. Moral choices, aggro, good dialog and great story.
The only thing that would redeem the series would be that the next game opens with Salem waking in a bunk-bed and saying to Rios, "I just had a nightmare."
