With his special truck finished, Shame goes to work on his final caper - the theft of four prize cattle worth over one million dollars. Batman and Robin deduce his plan, but realize they are too late to stop him and too slow to catch him. With little left to go on, the Dynamic Duo employ their "bat-logic" to try to figure out his next move.
"It's How You Play the Game" begins with Batman shaking loose his stake, allowing him to use his cape the way a matador would in a bullfight, steering the stampeding cattle away from Robin, after which he advises little Andy (Eric Shea) to always listen to his mother and father. A visit to disc jockey Hot Rod Harry (an unbilled Jack Carter) sends them over to used car dealer Laughing Leo (Milton Frome, from the Batman feature film), who loses his smile once the name Shame is mentioned. The 'bloodthirsty bushwhacker' has another ace up his sleeve, targeting Black Angus cattle worth $300,000 each, to sell out West at a tidy profit, but isn't too pleased to learn that the Dynamic Duo remain alive and on his trail. In fact, Cliff Robertson's best moment is when he goes into a shooting rage, roaring like a bull in heat and no cow in sight! Once the Black Angus is captured, Shame keeps them together at the KO Corral, while little Andy ("come back Shame!") remains determined to get back his stolen radio. The Batclimb cameo finds Werner Klemperer in his familiar guise as Colonel Klink from HOGAN'S HEROES, a bit out of place for a WW2 character to be in modern day Gotham City, but no more awkward than Andy Devine as Santa Claus. As good as this introductory episode is, Cliff Robertson actually topped it with his repeat performance in "The Great Escape"/"The Great Train Robbery," where Chief Crashing Bore gives way to Chief Standing Pat!

Batman corrects him about how it is Matador (Batman uses his purple cape to steer a herd of bulls out harm's way!), so Robin replies, "Holy matador then!" The second part to the "Shame saga" is "How to Play the Game" with Batman and Robin trying to outwit (shouldn't be too difficult, but he's craftier than they probably thought) auto-theft villain Shame in his scheme to build a super-engine so he can have a vehicle faster than the batmobile. "You are never too young to learn the difference between good and evil." This is told to little "Mr. Pecos" Andy by Batman (spoken in that mock-serious tone Adam West is known for)on bended knee about not associating with the likes of Shame (it is wonderfully cheesy as if a moral lesson commercial for all little kids who might have been watching). "We've set another youth on the road to a brighter tomorrow." It's just too funny! This episode produces not only Shame, the "Conniving Cowboy of Crime", but Laughing Leo(Milton Frome), the used car salesman, as well as, Hot Rod Harry(Jack Carter), the radio jockey at K-G-C. "Don't stand there chewin' your cud and spit it out, boy!" Shame becomes furious when Leo tells him that Batman and Robin survived the stampede. He was so mad that a temper tantrum erupts with Okie Annie proclaiming, "He's angrier than a hyena with laryngitis". "Holy guacamole!" Yes, through a spot of avocado and chili on a steering wheel, Batman and Robin perplexingly determine where Shame ate at! "Holy bat-logic." Baticillin lozenges actually heal bullet wounds, who'd a thunk it? Batman determines that the western studio town would be the place Shame would return to leading to an ambush where the villain "plugs" Robin with a bullet to the ankle. Thanks to the lozenges, he's back on his feet in no time! Prize Black Angus cattle are the apple of Shame's eye, worth $300,000 a piece, that super-engine would be easy to build then. "Get it." "Got it." "Good." Unbelievably, Shame and his cohorts successfully steal the cattle and take them to the KO Coral (haha!) at the Gotham City Stockyards, with Batman and Robin on their tails. "The Town ain't big enough for the both of us." Will Batman, unarmed, be able to survive a gunfight with armed Shame? "I got you covered six ways to Sunday." It looks like Batman and Robin are in for quite a showdown with Shame and his posse, including the Boy Wonder getting "pump primed" (a water pump is used to choke him!). "Good grief." I agree with Shame when the consummate moralist, Batman tells Andy that if he trades in his cowboy costume for a batman costume for reasons dealing in being a good citizen. Ugh.
