Abrams is a genius when it comes to his television, but has no creative talent when it comes to directing/producing movies. In response to you infantile, no eye for cinematic art individuals, it is quite probable you have never seen an episode of Star Trek Voyager, or any of the original time line Star Trek series which does not include Star Trek Enterprise. In Voyager they introduced the Star Fleet Temporal Police which would have prevented any tampering with past events. I would/can only imagine that for James T. Kirk to have been such an incorrigible child and teenager meant he lost his father George at when he was still quite young. As I was saying earlier, Fringe, P.O.I., and now Almost Human sheer genius, why can he not bring that kind of creative talent to the big screen. My opinion is in 20 yrs. when yet again you have another generation who unfamiliar with Abrams bastardized version of Star Trek he will bring that audience on another time trip and restore events to the original time line, or a close facsimile. 646f9e108c

I had high hopes for this show since it had an IMDb rating of 8.4 which is usually a good sign. I was disappointed when I watched the first two episodes, literally dragging myself through the second. It can be an entertaining show, depending on what you are looking for but it was difficult to compare it to movies with complicated plots and good character development like The Killing, Game of Thrones, Dexter.
pluses: - the banter between the two main characters is pretty funny - the technology is pretty cool, as are the special effects - the people are pretty
minuses: - extremely predictable. Story lines that have been done and overdone were done again, e.g. high-rise hostage taking with the usual plot, man in his forties with a woman who looks like a super model in her early 20s - still? really?
- unrealistic beauty in the characters. EVERYONE, with the exception of background characters and antagonists are absolutely stunningly beautiful. I listed this as a plus above but the novelty of beauty wears off when you need the show to be convincing. (I know this is a sci-fi but other sci-fis have real-looking people who get dirty sometimes)
- characters are typical clichés - an emotionally-flawed male main character who is an overly dedicated and talented detective, a robot who has angelic and heroic characteristics who feels emotion and empathy
- very weak and under-developed female characters - the love-interest in the story has had absolutely no character development in the story after two episodes. This could change later but she is pretty much a bubble- head at this point who relays information to the main character. The captain, who is a female, acts as an almost loving mother-figure to the main character who pulls typical childish moves for which she has to constantly chastise him.
