Ravi is a famous pop-singer in the region, and has many fans. One of his fans is a beautiful young woman named Kajal, who is in love with Ravi and his songs. When Ravi meets Kajal, he too falls in love with her, and soon both get married. After the marriage, Ravi's uncle hires some men to beat him up and kill him. They return, informing him that they have succeeded in their objective. Kajal is devastated with the new of Ravi's death, and assumes the habit of a Hindu widow. Then one day she meets with wealthy Raja Sahay, who has fallen head-heels in love with her, and proposes marriage. Shocked by this, Kajal initially refuses, but eventually agrees to marry him.
Renowned singer Ravi is popular within his community and soon get married to one of his fans, a young woman named Kajal. His scheming uncle, Dhirendra Pratap and cousin are determined to lay their hands on Ravi's wealth, and hire goons to kill him. When this news reaches his wife Kajal and mother, Laxmi Devi, both is completely shaken and relocates to a new city in order to wash away there troubled past. Kajal assumes the identity of a widow but soon reaches up with wealthy Raja Sahai and he falls in love and proposes marriage to her, but she refuses, compelled by Laxmi Devi she soon gives her consent to Raja and they get married. Everything returns to her life since Raja is a darling husband, but one day Ravi returns and Kajal is torn between her two husbands, Ravi and Raja.
Srk's first film had to be DIL AASHNA HAI(1992) but DEEWANA released before DAH was Hema Malini's directorial debut too while the film got delayed and bombed
DEEWANA was a hit and it was Raj Kanwar's directorial debut too
The film is divided in 2 chapters The first half shows a romance between an aged 40+ plus and chubby and fat Rishi kapoor and newcomer and perplexed late Divya Bharati the romance isn't too involving and the songs too are too many yet the turn of events are well handled
The second half focuses on SRK who loves the widow Divya Bharati and he marries her but as soon as they get close to each other Rishi returns and the rest is a clichéd Hindi film
The film is well handled by Raj Kanwar though clichéd and formula driven yet the drama and the romance(in parts) is well handled
Music is a winner, most songs are a rage though too many songs
Rishi looks too fat and old for his role but acts well Divya is okay, she wasn't too a great actress and looked too wooden as an actress yet here she does quite okay SRK for his debut is sincere and i miss this SRK nowdays he plays his part well though he was too awkward and there were rough edges Amrish Puri plays his 100000000th villain role Mohinish Behl is adequate Alok Nath is okay Sushma Seth is typecast
I bought this movie because this was Shah rukh khans Debut.And i also liked to see how would he do.I must say he is excellent in his role.Divya Bharathi is superb in this movie.Rishi does a wonderful job.Susham Seth supported well.Alok nath was good in his role.Amrish and Mohnish did their parts well too.Dalip also was good in his small role.Actors shine in a Mediocre movie.The direction is average.The editing is poor.The story is boring.It tells us about Ravi a famous pop singer.He has a lot of female fans.One of them is Kaajal.Ravi and Kaajal fall in love and get married.Ravi gets killed by his cousins.Kaajal becoems a widow..To escape from Ravis cousins.They go to Bombay.She comes across Raja.She falls in love with him and gets married.Ravi returns.The story is predictable.The climax is predictable.The first half bores.It also drags a lot.But it is saved by the actors and music.The second half entertains.The music is catchy with some nice songs.The cinematography looks outdated in the first half but it looks unimaginative.The song picturisations are dull except for "Sochenge Tumhe Pyar" and one rain song.The costumes are outdated.Any way watch this just for the actors and music Rating-4/10
