In Mexico, another vampire slayer, Derek Bliss, is hired by a shady priest and aided by a group of fellow slayers in finding a large nest of 'suckers' and their powerful leader, a vampire princess. She is seeking a legendary black crucifix - the same crucifix used unsuccessfully in the first movie to perform a ritual which will enable vampires to walk in sunlight and be invulnerable. A vampire hunter and a priest fight a band of the walking dead in Mexico. I admit that I am a vampire addict: I have seen so many vampire movies I have lost count and this one is definitely in the top ten. I was very impressed by the original John Carpenter's Vampires and when I descovered there was a sequel I went straight out and bought it. This movie does not obey quite the same rules as the first, and it is not quite so dark, but it is close enough and I felt that it built nicely on the original.

Jon Bon Jovi was very good as Derek Bliss: his performance was likeable and yet hard enough for the viewer to believe that he might actually be able to survive in the world in which he lives. One of my favourite parts was just after he meets Zoey and wanders into the bathroom of the diner to check to see if she is more than she seems. His comments are beautifully irreverant and yet emminently practical which contrast well with the rest of the scene as it unfolds.

The other cast members were also well chosen and they knitted nicely to produce an entertaining and original film. It is not simply a rehash of the first movie and it has grown in a similar way to the way Fright Night II grew out of Fright Night. There are different elements which make it a fresh movie with a similar theme.

If you like vampire movies I would recommend this one. If you prefer your films less bloody then choose something else. I've seen this movie, oh, twice. I'm no Jon Bon Jovi fan but he was definitely brilliant in this movie. Can't wait to see the seqeul for this vampire movie. If they were to make a sequel I reckon they should have to fresh people play the roles instead of Jon Bon Jovi because yeah, he was good, but with someone younger like John Cena on Tom Cruise this one could've been quiet good. Plus, the bit with the priest was good, I don't really like Jon Bon Jovi but the bits with the priest were alright to me. One last thing, if someone else were to play the priest I would recommend someone like The Rock or the man who played The Exorcist, Maybe if he weren't dead, Max Schreck could've taken the role. Bottom Line: This movie was quite good. Vampire slayer Derek Bliss (Jon Bon Jovi) is ordered to put together a team of hunters composed of (1) Zoey (Natasha Gregson Wagner), a young woman he met in a diner who was bitten by a vampire but who has been able to keep the turning in remission by taking some anti-HIV pills she got in Mexico City, (2) Father Rodrigo (Cristián de la Fuente), the only priest who escaped a vampire massacre at a monastery, (3) Sancho (Diego Luna), a 15-year-old boy who accompanied Derek on a vampire hunt and found that he had a penchant for vampire-hunting, and (4) Ray Collins (Darius McCrary), a tall, muscular, black, ex-military, "tough as nails" guy. In a bus outfitted for killing vampires, the ragtag team sets out to destroy a colony of vampires in northern Mexico along with their powerful leader Una (Arly Jover) before the "suckers" can obtain the Bersier cross, which will allow them to walk during the daytime. Vampires: Los Muertos is the sequel to Vampires (1998) (1998), which was loosely based on Vampire$, a 1991 novel by American author John Steakley. The screenplay for Los Muertos was written by Tommy Lee Wallace, who also directed the film. Castwise, it's an entirely new group of actors. Father Guiteau (Tim Guinee) is mentioned as the one who, before his death a month ago, built the vampire hunting bus. Only the black Cross of Bersier is back. It's explained that Fr Guiteau took the cross south into Mexico to hide it, and the vampires followed suit, hoping to find it. After saving Rodrigo from the fire, Derek returns to the nest, dropping his weapons and assuring Una that he only wants to talk. However, Una leaps on him, and Derek reacts by firing an arrow through her. Unfortunately, the winch is on the fritz, and they can't pull her out into the sun. So, they fix the winch and go back into the ruins. Sancho ropes Una, Una grabs Derek, Zoey pulls both Una and Derek out into the sun, Derek shoots off Una's head, and Una burns up. In the final scene, Rodrigo stays in Salina, Sancho is sent home to his mother, and Derek and Zoey drive off together into the sunset, headed for Mexico City, as they are both in need of those meds. Rodrigo admits that he hid it but won't tell anyone where. The fact that it was so violent, he especially didn't like the opening scene. 646f9e108c
