The opening sequence of the pilot might be the most poorly executed scene I have seen in a long long time. It's more rewarding and healthy watching directly at the sun than this opening. How this got through any quality insurance is a huge mystery. Probably, this went straight from some juniors iMovie project, straight to release. Right of the bat it just looks horrible and extremely amateurish; very rushed storytelling with short scenes with big jumps between the scenes. This only leaves room for cliché dialogs from the actors, and some amateurish attempt with slow motion effect on action scenes (just looks bad / poorly execution / editing). No actor could make this look good at all the way this pilot is edited, especially when they are given those cliché and unnatural dialogs. Further on, the whole pilot is way way to predictable. Shame, because the potential is all there. Why rush this so much? The pilot could easily have been split into 3-4 episodes (except the opening scene. No hope at all there).
That being said, the show *does* somewhat pick itself up quite fast in episode two and episode three. I imagine most of the reviews here are based on the pilot, as it is so bad most people probably rather jump off a cliff. However, do yourself a favor and watch some more. The storytelling finds it's pace fast. This allows the actors / characters to pick up the slack of the editing / directing. Even the CGI gets better. The question is if the damage is already done by the pilot. - And if it's to little to late. I personally think the show might have been killed right of the bat due to editing / directing. Hopefully I'm wrong and it continues to pick up, there is so much potential here. If not, stay very far away.
The rating is purely given as an average of the first three episodes.
Watching the Inhumans has been an enjoyable experience. The MARVEL Universe is well represented by this series. A good show on its' own, the show follows MARVEL history close enough to be enjoyed by long time fans; in addition to newcomers. I encourage folks to open their minds and give this a fair shot.
