A telling of the biblical tale, where Moses returns to Egypt to free the Hebrews from slavery. When an oracle prophesizes that a child will become Prince of Egypt, a time of danger approaches the kingdom. The Egyptian Pharaoh orders the massacre of all newborn males. But one child, Moses-the son of a Hebrew slave-escapes certain death when he is set adrift on the Nile. As years pass, he is raised in a royal Egyptian household and, with no memory of his family, rises to the stature of prince. Upon discovery of his true heritage, and inspired by a fiery message from God, Moses embarks upon a noble and desperate fight to reclaim his destiny as the leader and liberator of the Hebrew people. For a really wonderful movie, you could also try seeing the movie about Saint Francis of Assisi - good for any audience. Best thing I liked about this movie was the Mexico landscape, & it gets the movie up to a 2. I was surprised that these actors didn't have terrible sunburn, they were so were not desert dwellers. And Moses is said to have a speakING impediment, but certainly not here. Even the "miracle" scenes were contrived & un-believable. And what's the point if you can belief anything in a TV story? Talk about dumbing down, I thought this Hallmark-made movie was pathetic, & I can see why others hate Hollywood. I don't, just some of these corporate profit grubbers. You don't have to be any kind of religious to benefit from "Jesus of Nazareth", but for this waste of celluloid you need to be bored, with nothing to do, dumbed-down & religious. And for a real movie experience, try "Short Cut to Nirvana", a very highly rated film. Unfortunately, this picture really missed the mark. Robert Halmi, producer, indicated in several interviews that he had read the account of Moses in the bible "many times" so as to capture authenticity and realism. However, I'm not sure what bible he read. Numerous inaccuracies were noted throughout the film. The least of which was the character of Moses. He did not appear to be the inspired and spiritual servant/prophet of God--the scriptures present, but rather a hardened, uninspired nomad. I would think that those religions who believe Moses was a prophet (Muslims, Jews and Christians)would be very disappointed in how Robert Halmi portrayed him in this movie. I would not recommend this movie to anyone who has any interest in divine events. 646f9e108c
