A gang overruns a small mining town murdering their own leader Guerrero (Trejo) in a cold-blooded power grab. Sentenced to eternity in hell he finds himself confronted by Satan himself (Rourke), offering a daring proposition: deliver the six souls of his former gang and he will escape damnation. With time running out, he sets out on a brutal rampage to avenge his own death.
As a western fan, I was looking forward in seeing this western. With the story of a man, send back from Hell by the Devil to get revenge on his former gang. The plot sounds very interesting and it workout very nicely. The acting of Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke isn't above average. It's not a bad performance. Rourke as the Devil was a good casting idea. Trejo is as always the rough, tough looking hombre. Form me there is only one problem with the look of the movie and that's the use of allot of modern revolvers, in the movie. That's a big disappointment for me personal. But in the long run, it's good entertainment and as a western fan a nice addition to the genre.
While it is nice to see Mickey Rourke in any role and Danny Trejo has become Legend (one way or another) with Machete, this movie is not really great. It does have some really good costumes though and the set design is good too (I can't imagine them having a lot of money to spend, so it must be from another set or shoot ... no pun intended).
Action scenes are OK, the story not complicated, it's more or less what you'd expect from a movie like this. Dina Meyer has not really that much to do and she is the female lead in this. The angle on the good versus bad thing is not that bad, because it's not really a good guy doing the work here. Though obviously it doesn't really make that much sense (the "Deal" that is). But you shouldn't start thinking with movies like these
US audiences get the film in two different cuts. The "R"-rated version omits two graphic moments of violence and avoids female nudity by using appropriate alternate material. Since the DVD and Blu-ray have the Unrated on board, as well, that shouldn't bother too many viewers. 646f9e108c
