Japan creates an artificial black hole device to trap Godzilla forever, but a test of the device creates new foes for Godzilla, car-sized dragonflies called meganula and their queen, Megaguirus. When Japan's new Black Hole machine spawns a race of killer insects, they set their sights on Godzilla, collecting enough energy until, their queen, Megagurius, arises hell bent on becoming the dominant species, even if it means going up against Godzilla Working on miniature black holes is the newest weapon to tackle the Godzilla problem. The film follows the antics of G Grasper. Realizing Godzilla is attracted to nuclear and plasma power, all such power is now absent from Japan, but as he returns, a small egg comes through one of the test black holes. It soon hatches into a big assed flying mosquito. This has parallel universes, spaceships, alien bugs, human drama, and lots of destruction. There's even more obvious CGI for the swimming scenes, but it's nice to see the tradition of Godzilla is celebrated rather than parodied. A satisfactory entry in an extensive series. Dear Godzilla,

Please consider informing Toho Productions that you are not going to put up with recycled plots any more. The old Japan vs Godzilla vs another monster thing is getting old, even if the other monster is a kind of interesting looking half-cousin to that poseur Mothra, and the Japanese have developed a black hole producing weapon which is aimed directly at earth! Really, who would even consider developing a weapon of such potential, much less deploying it for the sole purpose of getting rid of you? Certainly not Japan, though I can think of one western power under a certain leadership which might. Speaking of black holes and infinite voids, as well as folding space-time, how many times are you going to allow them to kill you on screen? And finally, why do you continue to accept scripts which make you appear to be a 'bad guy', when you know it's not your best role? Ahh well, I guess I can't have it all. I am at least glad that you've fired that makeup artist you had in G2K and insisted on better special effects. Congratulations on making Godzilla vs Megaguirus. While it didn't have the intellectual sophistication of Hedora, and it lacked the artistry of the brilliant Gojira, Mosura, Kingu Gidorâ: Daikaijû sôkôgeki, it was an entertaining romp through Tokyo.
