The crew meet Zhuqiaomon. Henry has self-doubt and Terriormon has to boost his confidence. With renewed strength and courage, Henry and Terriormon Biomerge to become MegaGargomon and defeat their foe.
Something I've always maintained is that the writers simply had no idea what to do with Henry. Once he dealt with his aversion to fighting, his character arc merely leapt from hollow deductions to less than compelling family matters. Now, we get to see him undergo a trial that further affirms that his only purpose is to capitalize on those that came before him, particularly Matt Ishida.
The section of the episode prior to the appearance of Zhuqiaomon has its share of good moments, including Rika's attempt to console Jeri and a surprisingly funny exchange between the former and Takato. Guardromon, who has amounted to little more than window dressing so far, also shows something of a sense of humor ("once you start dating you'll make many girls sad"). But anyway, Henry's protective older sibling attitude was pretty weak these past few episodes, since at the end of the day that's all it amounts to: a protective older sibling attitude. There's no unique spin on this attribute, such as with Matt, whose attitude towards his brother stemmed from the schism of his family. The only reasons he interacts with Susie are because (a) she was always playing with Terriermon and (b) she's needlessly involved in the conflict. Neither of these is particularly interesting.
Having him be overly determined to finish the conflict and overcome by a sense of sole responsibility, to an extent, is a less interesting variation of Matt's actions during the Dark Masters saga, when he pushed his teammates away due to resurgence in the feelings from his family's split. Furthermore, his murky motivations are a real source of frustration. Is he more concerned with the safety of his sister, his own capability in ensuring that safety, or the fallibility of his own teammates? As far as I'm concerned, it makes no difference. Presenting whatever issues he has without clarity, especially in a kids' show, prevents them from being explored properly, and thus from serving the character as they are supposed to. The big lesson is that Henry doesn't have to do everything himself, thanks to his teammates, but this development, as with nearly every other little matter Henry deals with, carries no weight. It's rushed through and doesn't even get put into practice, since he still ends up fighting solo, making MegaGargomon's introduction WAY more perfunctory than Gallantmon's.
Zhuqiaomon himself certainly has a god-like presence, which is helped by how the digimon partners get leery before he appears. However, he (kind of) loses to MegaGargomon in the same episode as his introduction, which is a mistake. It diminishes his impact as the great foe that has been looming behind the scenes.
