In the year 2071, the Solar System is linked by a network of hyperspace gateways. Police lose their grasp on crime and a bounty hunting system has been implemented. On an old fishing starship called the "Bebop," a cool as Zen man of mystery, a macho former hard-boiled cop, a brash and fickle woman with a large debt, a whimsical whiz kid hacker and an unsuspecting Welsh Corgi band together to hunt bounty heads for a meager living. Unfortunately, they are some of the unluckiest people in the star system. These are the stories of the adventurous (and misadventurous) lives of four struggling people and a dog.
The futuristic misadventures and tragedies of an easygoing bounty hunter and his partners.
I'll have to say "Cowboy Bebop" is the anime with the greatest soundtrack ever(from what i've seen so far anyway)...it's all in the music...i just loved it. most anime shows have crappy music,it's not the case here :D. oh yeah, the storyline and characters are awesome as well. You'll fall in love with it from the first episode. Definitely worth watching, especially for the people who like jazz and rock (and not only).

Cowboy Bebop is not just for anime fans, which is what usually stops most people from watching it. They say "Looks its an anime, so it isn't good." Cowboy Bebop is for anyone who wants to watch a good show or see a good story.
The setting of Cowboy Bebop is in the future, but actually not too distant future which the show puts some emphasis on. The technology is interesting because it is high tech, but it looks rugged, old, and a bit worn away. This gives the show a very good atmosphere, and you will notice that people aren't really separated by race or country in this show. It seems like people just live wherever they want to live. Colonization on other planets has already happened, and each planet has a different appearance.
The characters really make this show enjoyable. All of them are good and very well developed. Spike is the main character who is a bounty hunter along with his friend Jet. Spike is very smooth when he walks, is very skilled at fighting, and has a mechanical eye. He is a very fun character to watch, and listen to. The English dubs are great on this show because the voice actors really understood how the characters act, and the voices just fit perfectly. This is the only anime other than Zoids that I prefer to watch in English over subs. Jet is Spike's friend as a bounty hunter, and he is the biggest character of the bunch and has a robotic arm. He isn't too aggressive, and is sort of the father of the group he kind of keeps everything in check. Faye is a girl who actually was put into cryo-sleep back before advanced technology and all, and she awoke in this time period. She has a gambling issue and doesn't listen to orders well. Ed is a girl (yes but it is hard to tell at times) who is a computer genius and crazy. She is hyper, constantly active, but as mentioned before, insanely smart. Ed's best friend is Ein who is a super smart dog that constantly follows Ed once Ed joins the gang.
The episodes are all different from each other and all follow different genres. One episode is a space horror, another one is more a story about insanity, some are set up like westerns, others are like gang movies, and this constantly makes you to want to watch the show more. There is a main plot which revolves around Spike and a syndicate that he was a part of. There are only a couple episodes that revolve around this plot and they are scattered throughout the series. This show is violent, but it isn't mindless violence. The violence is used to progress the story, or used logically. There is some swearing, but it isn't all that bad, and everyone in awhile there will be a nude poster or something in the background but this is rare.
The animation is also very good, and the backgrounds are nice. The animators really spent a lot of time on this show and making it look good.
This is a must watch show, and I suggest you watch it in English since the dialog is surprisingly good for an anime, and for an English dubbed show in general. I give it a 10/10
