A pair of criminals try to track down the kids who witnessed them commit a murder in the woods. The environmentalist Jack Damson accidentally kills a man during a protest in the woods and is imprisoned. Years later, his former wife and lawyer Maria now is living with their daughter Jenny and their son Mikey with Jack's friend Chuck. Chuck invites Jenny and Mikey to go camping in the woods. Meanwhile the psychopath Tommy Baxter travels with his retarded brother Kenny to a cabin in the same forest and Tommy kills the owner. However Jenny and Mikey witness the murder and Tommy hunts them. Jenny loses her cellular and Kenny calls Maria believing that she is his mother. Maria tells Jack what is happening and he breaks out of prison to rescue the siblings from the criminals. It has a woodland setting and wooden acting from most of the cast members. The character development is next to nil. A couple of kids vacationing in the wood accidentally witness a murder so the bad guys come hunting for them. Dominic Purcell plays the main antagonist of the film and is on autopilot for the most part while the victimised kids remain resolutely unsympathetic. Perhaps worst of all is the film's protagonist Brendan Fraser, who breaks out of prison in poorly-contrived scenario and becomes one of the unlikeliest action heroes you'll ever see. None of this is remotely convincing with the director coming off as the worst of the bunch as it feels like he has no conviction in his own story. 7cb1d79195
