Something is killing people in the woods. Something covered with feathers.
The survivors of people who have gone missing or died in the woods get a letter from Charlotte Reeves (Carleigh Hewa) claiming she knows what happened. The group travel to an island (?) that doesn't have any bears and discover their relatives were killed by a wererooster. Colonel Sanders is a supernatural hunter like Kolchak (for guys my age). Yes, the film had bad puns and in a few places paid homage to LOTR. Sanders had a pocket knife that glows blue whenever something supernatural is around. The movie included black and white flashbacks.
Considering they shot this on a $600 budget (IMDB claim), they did great. No mikes in the picture, no hollow sound, no stage hand shadows in the scene, good camera angles. The film was camp, but not overly camp. It had many good scenes and others where I thought they needed to tighten up the dialogue. The entertainment had a certain juvenile quality to it with the sexual aspects, but not to the point of a bad teen sex comedy. Some less than stellar line readers.
Guide: Minor swearing, use of Freakin' like another f-word. Back nudity, implied topless. Implied sex.
THE NIGHT OF THE WEREROOSTER is another pointlessly bad indie horror spoof. This one's about a monster in the woods bumping off various unsuspecting folk who have been summoned there by a mysterious young woman. The titular monster is barely glimpsed and perhaps that's for the best as this film's production values are rock bottom and it's completely without merit.
