Tips on how to Get Your Songs on Spotify

Music files Spotify

Not just a Signed Artist? Not an issue

There are a huge selection of independent artists and that we all should concentrate on another thing: gaining new fans! Yes, more than money, we need individuals to hear us and tell their friends regarding the mind-blowing new band they found. Getting our music put on Spotify can be a critical step up this procedure.

Unless you are living on Cloud 9, you've heard of Spotify and its "freemium" service. You've also heard how Spotify has had the social media by storm. Each time one of my pals learns a song, it appears on my Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, and whatever other social accounts I have; ex: "Hey! Nicklas just joined Spotify and followed Weasel... " You get the drift.

So although the amount of cash you make per stream (per play) is only a penny, the exposure potential is well worth the while. And fortunately for indie artists like yourself, it's pretty an easy task to get the music onto Spotify.

Currently, you may be signed with a label. If you do, your music may be on Spotify already. Whether or not this isn't, call your rep and ask if they've uploaded your own music to the service. Should they haven't and you long for them too, supply the order! (within a nice way). Also, make sure they give Spotify your press kit set with a bio, photos, contact info and whatever else that makes you stand out. Not difficult, right?!

If you're an unsigned artist, that's okay with there being tons of solutions to upload your own music without having a label. However, Spotify cannot negotiate with you directly. Why not? I'm sure it's one of several stipulations of their agreement with all the majors. Nevertheless the option is still quite simple. You'll want to pick a distributor like Tunecore, CDBaby or DittoMusic. I've written a review of these distributors so that you can save some some time to keep rehearsing.

When you have created a merchant account having a distributor or signed a label agreement, your own music will be uploaded onto Spotify within 4-6 weeks. But there is still try to be done, which leads us to:

romote your own music!

Spotify doesn't always receive your awesome press kit, so equally as a backup, produce a profile at allmusic.com. Spotify will search for you there whenever they don't get a bio.

Seeing that all of the tedious stuff is completed with, you're ready to give your fans know Spotify will likely be sporting your tunes soon! Come up with cool promo posts on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Come up with a promo video on your YouTube channel. Just a sweet idea: write music only for your Spotify release and fasten it on your posts! Ex: "Can't wait to view our fans on Spotify. We've recorded an audio lesson only for all of you! Arriving at your Spotify account soon!" Fans will eat it down!

Okay, there is a couple of tedious things to accomplish still. No website is complete anymore without clickable logos. If your music is on Spotify, download the service's logo at iconfinder.com. Next, search for your band profile on Spotify (a few options can come up, including "Top Hit, Tracks, Playlists"... you would like to find the link under "Artist"). While hovering over your artist profile, right click and judge "Copy Spotify URI." Last, combine the URI using the Spotify logo with the addition of it aimed at your web or blog sidewall by creating an "Image Widget."

Another hip promo you can use for Spotify is the "Spotify Play Button." This selection lets you post songs on to your website and blog. First, right click any song, album or playlist in Spotify you would like to promote as soon as again select "Copy Spotify URI."

As an example, let's post this URI for your blog. Start your blog post, write something for your hungry fans in html mode: ("We know you want a sneak peak of our upcoming album. Here's the 1st track for you! Share it with your friends!"). Next, post the url and put in a salutation.
