A get about an from someone asking for information on subject XYZ or gizmo ZYX. Im always happy to help anybody who e-mails me so feel free to keep the questions coming! Every once in a while that email causes fodder for a post Thusa while ago I got this e-mail from a peep:'m in the middle of searching for a training mentor this winter and could be interested in a finding a little more about your choice procedure.

Might make for a fascinating blog today that the seasons ending and youve hit all your aims So, how can I choose my trainer Well, first we have to return to the coach before the current coach (about Feb 2008). Well call him Coach #1. Coach #1I picked him after I stumbled upon a few of his posts on Trifuel.com a forum for triathletes.

After discussing it with him he had numerous books/DVDs/etc to back this up along with some reputable accolades and seemed really on top of things. And he talked a good game. So I started training under him. My workouts were challenging and I believed I was on target.

He wasnt actually looking at my workout information but rather just sending me workouts. And it took him to answer e-mails or telephone calls. My patience grew thin. I had been paying a fair chunk of change to have a trainer and he wasnt responding. After a while he was chased by me.

Rather than reacting to e-mails or phone calls, you know kinda like the same kinda rude. Heres what I learned from this. It doesnt mean they care about athletes just because a coach has a couple of pros and a few DVDs released. I had been only a stream of revenue.

He didnt, Regardless of his site saying hed respond immediately. Days would go by. In the exercise world thats quite a while. In my profession, that would be considered absurd. Coach #2:So, about the time (April 2008) I had been becoming fed up with Coach #1 I stumbled right into a dude at the pool I swim at the was coached by Coach #1.

He agreed and was coached by # 1, and suggested a new man he worked with. So I gave 2 a call. #2 also understood #1 and had worked together with him. All my issues were understood by him. After speaking with him on the phone for more than one hour, I started filling out some of the paperwork on my trip out to Wildflower (Half-Iron) last year.

I knew he was a fantastic coach though when about 30 minutes after I finished that race I had received e-mail and a call from him seeing my finish time in the race. Again, I hadnt even started with him. Seriously. I started using #2 and in many ways.

I'd trust him revamping my schedule and my routine. However, I did. And he conveyed. I receive e-mails from 7, EVERY DAY. I upload my work outs to Training Peaks every day, and in a few minutes or hours Ill receive comments on the exercise including where I went wrong or right.
