Keeps Your Vehicle Safe And Secure

from web site

Have you ever wanted to tow your car for some distance? Put the tow vehicle in park and set the parking brake. Just the process of hitching and unhitching a trailer from a tow vehicle requires know-how and numerous steps, and forgetting even one crucial element in the process could compromise safety. With a partner to visually confirm, check that the trailer's running lights, brake lights, turn signals, and hazard lights are all working in correlation with the tow vehicle.

The three main types are self-aligning coach-mounted receivers, self-aligning towed vehicle-mounted receivers and the rigid A-frame tow bar. A passenger cannot ride in a travel trailer or a mobile home while it is being towed on the highway. Emergency service is intended to get your car to the nearest service centre for a more complete repair.

Some manufacturers either put a prepared connector in the vehicle which is a preparation on the network (Ford, Volvo) to accept a specially designed towing module, or have designed the trailer to be ‘detected' through connections directly onto the databus (VAG, BMW).

And confusingly, the speed limits for cars which are towing and cars which aren't are the same on some roads but different on others. Park the vehicle you'll use to tow the trailer on level ground too. Necessarily, government and industry standards have been developed for carriers, lighting, and coupling to ensure safety and towing interoperability of towing equipment.

Too much speed is certainly dangerous when towing a caravan. Should you tow a two wheel drive vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission with the driving wheels on the ground, catastrophic failure may occur. Make sure the trailer has actual trailer tires - not passenger car tires - and that they are properly inflated and in good shape (plenty of tread, no dry rot, etc.). Check your vehicle's tires while you're at it, too.

It is wise to raise a caravan on supports if it is to remain standing for long periods, taking the weight off the tyres and prolonging their useful life. If the posted limit is 50mph, 40mph, 30mph, or 20mph, then that's how fast you're allowed to drive when towing a caravan.
