Doing Burning Man Nude - Ever fantasize about what it'd be like to experience a clothing-optional society? Where the trend standards of our culture are set aside and being naked in public is deemed acceptable? Fully being a naturist for some 25 years approximately, I surely have.
My husband and I discovered this type of location in 2004. It was at the Burning Man art festival held at Black Rock City, Nevada. This temporary non-commerce community of about 50,000 people comes together for a week each year. They're there to observe revolutionary self-expression.
One of the principles of Burning Man is engagement. Their web site states: Our community is committed to a radically participatory ethic. We believe that transformative change, whether in the person or in society, can happen only through the medium of deeply personal participation. Everyone is invited to work. Everybody is encouraged to play. We make the world real through actions that open the heart.

With this principle in mind, for the last few years, I Have organized a Theme Team called Naked City. Our naked city participates in a regional burn held twice annually in central Florida. Our camp, which is sponsored by The Naturist Society's (TNS) NOVA program, as well as, South Florida Free Beaches, serves this community. It creates a space where people can learn about naturism and experience the special feeling of enjoying our diversion while naked.
We've even built an art gallery.

It's kind of like having a clothed man in a nudist park we stick out. Yet, we have been handled with respect, toleration and kindness with lots of eye contact and tons of questions.
These regional burns are held globally but the principles remain constant. Take a look at www.regionals.burningman.com to find the one nearest you. It's not only a chance to experience a unique community, but also an opportunity to share naturism with those who are open to new ideas.
I recommend that before creating your own camp which you attend one of these burns as a participant to actually get the flavor of the function. Prepare to be self reliant in regard to your own food, water and shelter. Nothing is for sale and no sellers or commercial ads are permitted.

As of the writing the dates haven't been posted. South Florida Free Beaches has posted the images from our After burn in November. We'd several art projects this year and had a fantastic time.
If you really would like to do something about legitimizing naturism, and are brave enough to mainstream it, this is a fantastic way to put some actions behind those words.
