Use your thumbs to apply pressure to certain points around your head and your face. You're going to put pressure on the temples, sinuses, and at the base of your neck.
Make sure you don't push too hard. You need to be in tune with how you respond to a self-massage. If pressing too hard, let up a little. If you feel you're not pushing hard enough, just push a little harder.
There are acupressure points that you can pay attention to. A relaxing massage doesn't have to happen on just your head. You can massage the back of your hand or the back of your head. Find that bone on the back of your head that is right above the nape of your neck. Move a little more than a centimetre below that and massage for five minutes with your thumbs. You'll even notice the stress leaving your body. On the back of your hand, massage between the first and second metacarpal bones.
If you feel like your headache is getting worse, stop immediately. If your headaches occur frequently, make sure you see a doctor as soon as possible. That way you can get to the root of what is causing your headache.
