Positivity in the workplace

Research has shown that positivity in the workplace promotes productivity. That's good news for workers, employers, and their companies. It indicates that positivity at the workplace can be encouraged through numerous ways. That means businesses can actually capitalize on positively themed workplace policies, processes, and it begins with top management.

Top management is defined as those in charge in a company or organization. They typically have managerial responsibilities. Having a positive attitude in the work place is important for anyone in management. If you're someone in charge of a business, then promoting positivity in the workplace starts with you.

A workplace that promoting positivity works better than one that doesn't. A healthy and positive environment encourages productivity. According to employee engagement expert Lee Baucom, "A healthy and positive environment is where employees are completely engaged and enjoy working hard. Employees that are not engaged have a very low employee retention rate." When an employer allows their employees to have a good time, they will be more productive and happier.

Studies have proven that workplace environments that encourage a positive attitude can increase productivity by as much as fifteen percent. That's a tremendous amount when you consider the thousands of dollars and hours saved on employee turnover and absenteeism. Employees that are enthusiastic about their jobs and what they do tend to be more productive and happy. Studies also prove that workplace cultures that spread positivity not only benefit the employer, but also the employees.

One way to promote positivity in the workplace is through a form of frequent positive feedback (FPF). FFF is a short, structured note that gives a positive employee feedback on a specific event or task. For example, if an employee does a good job in completing a project request, the manager could give him or her a small award. Small awards are especially powerful because they are usually given without expecting any sort of response. When employees feel good about doing a task, they often want to do more of it. In addition, small awards provide employees with something to celebrate when they do excellent work.

A third way to foster positivity in the workplace is through encouraging employees to share their positive attributes. Employees who see other employees achieving success are more likely to try to emulate those same behaviors. This positive leadership behavior is not easy to put into place, but it is a great way to make employees feel like they are valued and important.

One way to promote positivity in the workplace is by creating a work environment where employees feel positive about themselves and others.
