Sopko took over the studio four years ago after owning another studio in Oak Park. Given that announcing Nature Yoga's closing, Sopko stated she's received numerous messages of assistance and thankfulness. While the physical studio has closed, Sopko stated she will continue Nature Yoga's virtual instructor training program.
The fall program will fulfill a total of 8 hours weekly on Thursday nights and Saturday early mornings from October-March. Sopko said she will provide scholarships covering in between 25-75 percent of tuition to candidates who are Black and Native individuals of color (BIPOC) along with applicants who are nonbinary or members of the LGBT community.
There's an overwhelming sense of calm that washes over you the minute you step inside your preferred yoga studio. Perhaps it's the scented candles or the smiling Buddha statue welcoming you at the entryway.
