#China to #Australia - Quarantine experience in Sydney + family reunion (Chinese subs 中文字幕)

This is a vlog documenting part of my journey from #China to #Australia and my #Quarantine experience in Sydney, plus a clip of the first time I saw my mum and the first of many family reunions back home in Brisbane.

I arrived in Sydney in late June, just as the Sydney outbreak began. I had just come from #Guangzhou, which has itself experiences a minor outbreak of the Delta variant of COVID-19.

Before I left, Australia was relatively COVID-19 free, but as the days went on and I followed the press conferences and news updates daily, the situation became worse in Sydney. As a Queenslander, I was anxious and stressed about how I would get home. Some of the mixed messaging I was hearing was also confusing - Sydney was in lockdown, and so was Brisbane for a while, so I was worried about whether or not I would actually be able to make it home to see my family after coming so far.
I am currently on extended leave in Australia after working in China for 10 years for my current employer.

I am grateful that the station I worked for granted me this leave and understood just how important it was for me to spend time with my family.

I am now back home in Brisbane. I would like to thank all of the medical workers, the police, the hotel staff, and everyone involved in Sydney's hotel quarantine system, as well as everyone at Queensland Health who provided me with advice.

Without them, there is no way that I would have been able to get home. We really do need to thank these selfless individuals for doing what they do. They are simply doing the best that they can under the current circumstances. Also, I was extremely lucky to arrive when I did. Since I arrived in Australia, passenger-caps have been halved for arrivals into Australia, meaning more Aussies stuck abroad will find it even more difficult to get home.

For me, securing a ticket was probably the most difficult part of getting home. I can tell you now that the one-way ticket to Australia was the most expensive plane ticket I have ever purchased in my life. I will be posting a future vlog about my experience flying on China Southern Airlines in 2021 between China and Australia soon.

This video is intended to share my experience in quarantine here in Australia, some of the ways that I passed the time, and also share some of my thoughts on how the quarantine system in Australia stacks up in comparison to the similar system they have in China. In this regard, Australia and China are very similar. Fourteen days of hotel quarantine is also currently required in China for all international arrivals - and I believe that it is one reason that both countries have been successful in containing the spread of the virus in 2021.

For now, I am extremely happy to be home with my family. 2020 and 2021 have taught me one very important lesson: Family is the most important thing in the world. It is more important than your job, money, success, or personal needs/wants. Being with family, being able to show them love, and to feel love from them is priceless.

My heart goes out to anyone out there who is currently separated from theirs. I hope that sooner rather than later, more people can be reunited with their families. I hope we can all stay strong, support each other, resort to blaming others less, and just stick together as a community - both locally and globally - to get through this difficult time together.

I hope you enjoy this video, and if you want to see more updates about where I am and what I am doing in Australia, feel free to follow me on Twitter: @GDTVhazza.

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you in my next video! Stay safe, happy, and most importantly, healthy! #澳大利亚 #酒店隔离 #悉尼封城
