In early 1944. during The Second World War, the Navy bought the majority of the land around Anaheim Landing to build the United States Navy's Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach for filling, dumping, and keeping of ammunition for the Pacific Fleet, and specifically those US Navy warships home-ported in Long Beach and San Diego.
