Hatsan is a small town on the east coast of Thailand, bordered by Laos and Cambodia on its northern and eastern sides. It is about ten kilometers from the seashore. The only way to get to this small town is by road, which is a major hassle for most of us who would like to get to Bangkok in time for their Thailand vacation. So we turn to air transport. One such aircraft is the Gulfstream IV, flying from Bangkok to Hatsan.

It takes off from runway tugs at Inok Port, just across from the Thanon pier. This flight is one of the few times a week that Gulfstream makes an unplanned stop in the air, which it does with frequency. It lands at around 8:00 p.m., landing at our resort after a lengthy flight. The galley is totally empty, so we have no one to greet us when we arrive.

Rating products on Best Reviews Tips This air-carrier is part of a detachment from the US Military, providing airlift support to the Thai military in their invasion of Laos. The US Military uses these type of Cessna aircraft to fly troops and supplies to and from the remote Laotian areas under strict security conditions. On the ground, the pilots can be very helpful to the local villagers, who are lucky to have them because they often need air support to get supplies into town. The galley will land at a military airbase here in Hatsan, where the air force has a detachment and there are often many military personnel and their family members to greet the visitors. Many old timers are surprised to find that the air force still keeps such a base even after over 20 years.

When we get ready to board, the stewardess asks if we want to tour the "Aerosoprene" factory, which is located right on the airfield. The factory produces a special foam that the military uses for training. There are also a couple of pigs used in the production. If you've ever flown over a factory that makes this foam, you'll notice the rows of seats filled with people being strapped into seatbelts. The pigs are the same ones used in Olympics that are used by military personnel.

Our visit ends with a trip to another aspect of Hatsan - the town of Wat Khanon. In this town, rice paddies are still used for farming and there are some rice fields. Although most of the rice paddies have been turned into vegetable fields, they are still used to grow rice. A market is also setup here to sell the fresh vegetables and fruits that the farmers have grown.

While on our trip, the stewardess asks if we'd like to visit the village of Bophut, where we could visit the pigs. Bophut is actually a very old working-class village that is still operating. Some of the people still make do with a little bit of cooking, but the rest of the house-hold members have either left or are unable to continue their day-to-day lives due to accidents. The market is set up in the center of the village; it sells fresh fruits and vegetables, along with their traditional rice products.

The town of Hatsan serves as a gateway to many other attractions in Thailand. We take the chance to pay a couple of last respects to the local villagers and then visit the Wat Khanon temple. It is a Buddhist temple dedicated to Buddha and serves as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the communist conflict. This place is also where the royal family has been worshiping for centuries.

After a few hours, we head back to Phuket and prepare to explore more of Thailand. The next morning, Phuket is a beautiful sight to see, with sunlight streaming in through the windows. We continue exploring the countryside, passing by rice paddies and rice fields. It becomes increasingly clear that there is much more to this place than we first realized. While there is still plenty to see and do, we certainly don't want to be bored. So, what are you waiting for?
