Freedom of speech, is it a right? Indeed, it is. However, when it comes to the freedom of speech in essay writing and blogging more students are asking those same questions about the freedom of speech in classrooms as well as the public square. Why is classification essay topics ? Is this just a coincidental storm of the senses or is there really something else behind the whole freedom of speech issue?

The reality of the situation is that, the freedom of speech in essay writing and blogging, like anything else, can be abused. If a teacher or administrator demands that you no longer write or say anything that offends them, you have the right to speak your mind. That right is essential to freedom of speech. Unfortunately, many administrators have decided to abuse the freedom of speech in the name of protecting their own feelings and sensibilities.

It is unfortunate indeed that we have to remind college students that they are being censored in the classroom. When how to start a rhetorical analysis essay as a school tries to control what the citizens can or cannot say or write on campus, it is obviously a sign of an excessive lack of freedom of speech in reference to the opinions, beliefs and viewpoints of the people in power. There is nothing wrong with encouraging open debate and dissent in academic writing and debate in general. However, when certain groups of people are using the concept of freedom of speech in the classroom to attack those who disagree, as well as promote certain viewpoints, that can get a bit overboard and problematic.

Is all of this creating an environment where protected debate and free speech is meaningless? Not necessarily. It is true that some professors and students are no longer willing to engage in free speech debate after having been bullied for so long. Is this a sign of a bigger problem or is there something else going on? It appears that a segment of our society has lost sight of the goals of freedom of speech and the ability to be creative and to think outside of the box.

It is unfortunate that our nation's colleges and universities are being forced to recognize the need for more free speech training for their faculty members. If more instructors are required to receive this training, then the quality of our future educated society will suffer. Freedom of speech is one of the cornerstones of a healthy society. Without it, certain thoughts and expressions are not permitted. It is unfortunate that these restrictions are being placed on our future free speech icons.

What can be done to reverse this trend? First of all, we need to teach our young people that having freedom of speech is not a privilege, but rather a right that is granted to all individuals regardless of their status in society. We need to send a message that the government will not protect you from speaking your mind. We must teach our youth that the value of freedom of speech is irreplaceable and that it is the right of all Americans to express themselves freely, no matter what the opinion of other members of society may be.

It is unrealistic to think that all members of society will agree on every thought that is uttered. The fact is that we live in a pluralistic society and are blessed with free speech rights. We cannot allow certain ideals to be censored because of the sensitivities of some in our population. If we cannot have freedom of speech, then who can?

Freedom of speech should never be equated with censorship. If we cannot have freedom of speech because someone disagrees with us, then how can we ever have it? I truly believe that every American wants his/her government to protect him/her from all forms of censorship and hate speech. It is time for us to realize that there are many that wish to speak their minds without fear and to exercise their right to freedom of speech. Please consider all this in 2021.
