Kosher Marshmallow Hot Chocolate or Jellies

dandies vegan gluten ingredients recipe

Kosher marshmallows are a part of my regular diet, but only on special occasions. There are some gourmet marshmallows out there, but they cost more than I can afford. For the most part I stick to the more economical brands. My sweet tooth still needs to be satisfied and the prices of a box of Graham cracker and slice is not inexpensive.

Recently I was shopping at the grocery store and saw the S'mores marshmallow, which by the way, is made with a soy base and not animal products. I decided to try it and I must say it was a huge hit. My guests were impressed and asked where I got it. I told them that I got it at the Jewish foods section, not in the baking goods aisle. That's where you will find all the marshmallows kosher.

There are two different kinds of kosher marshmallows that you can buy. They are partorisca and dandies. A partorisca is half the size of a dumpling and usually contains 3 eggs. Dandies are round, small and filled with candies. You can usually find them in the baking goods aisle of your local grocery store.

The traditional base for kosher marshmallows is actually a simple flour mix and vegetable shortening. That's because the marshmallows actually stay soft while baking. It's because of this long-lasting crunch that they're so much fun to eat. Because of their long shelf life, you can make them over again. After you've finished baking one, you can refrigerate them or freeze them for up to three days. They last just as long if not longer than that.

When you make your own, you need to start by making sure your basic marshmallow mixture is mixed well. Then you add your desired ingredients. You can do anything from using raisins, candy bars, dried fruits, cereal, chunks of sugar, sprinkle of powdered sugar, vegetable shortening or corn syrup to name a few. Don't forget to place the food ingredients in the mixing bowl in order for them all to knead properly.

After mixing all the ingredients, you will have to take your time and roll each ingredient until the marshmallow is formed. Then you can cut them into smaller pieces and place them in the waxed paper into the pan. Let it sit for about an hour to harden and you can now put your yummy vegan hot chocolate or jellies on top of your new homemade marshmallow! These kind of vegan treats are something that people will absolutely love. They taste like a traditional chocolate hot cocoa with a vegan twist!

Since kosher marshmallows are made from ingredients that are derived from animals, they are not to be consumed by vegans. However, they can be used liberally as a great appetizer, dessert, or snack time treat! In fact, you can find these delicious marshmallow treats available for purchase or you may want to try some of the recipes found online. If you are looking to add a wholesome, nutritional twist to your Halloween treats this year, consider buying some artisan marshmallows and making your own hot chocolate or jellies!
