Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, law enforcement and animal control officers trapped the venomous snake on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.

The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.

When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.

This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

ARLINGTON, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an incident that drew widespread attention.

To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.

At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.

Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

An early morning 911 call from that same home prompted the search.

Her neighbor Joan Nelson expressed relief at the end of the ordeal.

She said she felt safe and really happy. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

Snakes can spit up to nine feet and are faster than most snakes. A morning dog walk turns into a dangerous event when the snake spits this wide. The African Snakebite Institute reports that this snake is very dangerous. A victim's nervous system might shut down upon ingestion of the venom.

A person hit by the poison would experience pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. It would then lead to a high fever and breathing problems, which could cause respiratory failure.

A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.

The species of cobras that are found in this area do not bite. The venom is more likely to spray because they are very accurate and go straight for the eye, she said.

Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.

In most cases, bites occur when people are sleeping. Research indicates people who are bit can suffer health issues for a long time.

It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.

In March, the police visited that residence four times for an animal issue. Following the zebra cobra's spotting on a porch a half mile away, they returned on Monday and Tuesday.

Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. An account linked to Keith Gifford's name features several photos of snakes belonging to his son, Christopher.

Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. According to one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot zebra cobra.
