Casino Wave

from web site

I was in Monte Carlo, Monaco, when I met an old colleague a few weeks back. We had both been part of the same card counting team nearly twenty years ago. We sat down at Havana Cafe to talk about old memories. She had spent most of her time at Atlantic City's Blackjack tables, US, and I at European casinos. After a half hour of sharing old memories, we moved on to the evolution of the casino industry since its online launch.

Online gambling is an opportunity to make life easier for businesses and the world. But, unfortunately, it is difficult to protect yourself from credit card fraud and rigged gaming. To kill a myth: the authority to regulate online casinos doesn't exist at the time I write this (December 2005).

However, this is not the most important. You should ask yourself if gambling is more accessible than 15 years ago when the internet casino industry began to grow. The dotcom industry has made gambling more accessible than ever, but are they really causing this increase in popularity? I am referring to the fact that gambling has been available to everyone, regardless of the very few "real" casinos across Europe. However, there have always been exceptions to the non-gambling laws. Everything from the restaurants casinos in Germany to the Jack Vegas slots machines in Sweden and Monte Carlo is never too far away.

This refers to the fact you can gamble all the time, and could always do so, but it was only when online gambling became popular that people started doing it. Many politicians around the globe explain this with the statement that gambling is easier than ever.

I know from twenty-years of experience that this is not the right answer. This is a clear example of how easily we humans can be manipulated. I disagree because the online gambling industry didn't do as well as it did until 2003, 13 years after its first casino was launched online. More people gamble than ever before isn't because there is more gambling available but because of the online marketing strategies they use.

The press should also have its piece. When poker suddenly became popular, every child sat at the computer trying to be a pro.

The ones to blame are the politicians worldwide for their terrible morality. Online casinos wouldn't exist if they weren't banned worldwide. A censure of these casinos would be a restriction on our democracy. However, since politicians won't allow people to gamble in a real casino without risking their credit cards being stolen or rigged, they are up to do so.
