PCA therapy, or person-centered therapy, sometimes referred to as Rogerian psychotherapy after its founder Carl R. Rogers, is one of the most successful psychotherapeutic movements.

Carl Rogers considered the basic motivating force of man to be his tendency toward actualization, i.e., the tendency to fulfill all the possibilities of man as a self-contained organism. It is therefore the client, and not the psychotherapist, who stands at the centre of the action.

Person-centered psychotherapy is characterized by a non-directive focus on the client, which is a significant innovation compared to other psychotherapeutic directions. This therapeutic method is based on the assumption that every person is capable of change and that it is the individual himself who is the person who knows best what is good for him. The client is the expert in his own life and therefore knows what direction the change should take.In therapy, the client is encouraged to be active and to analyse the problem.
