How can you keep bored at bay during long hours of the night time security guard in an underground facility

These are hard times. In the new gig economy, I'm having a hard time to navigate the same way as I used to before. Prior to the pandemic I was doing extremely well. I also had a job as dental assistant. I now have to take a night-time security role at an adjacent machine production plant. Most of the work is controlled by computers. There are some workers during the day, but only me and 2 engineers work on the night crew. I've got an emergency phone number I can call if there is an issue or machinery fails. I call engineers and/or outside line to get additional engineers. I do nothing. You see, they're not producing any value at all. Thus, night guard is really a glorified switchboard attendant.

It's something I enjoy. It's peaceful, I have a hard time sleeping through the night because of too much gas release however here it's not an issue. It's pretty dull in the evening and I'm constantly trying to speed it up. I've been spending the last two weeks perfecting the dance that I saw in Tik Tok. Although it's not too difficult, it's extremely hard for me to reproduce the dance. It was invented by a young Tik Tok girl. https://getvideo.club I'm not sure how to explain that stuff because I’m old.

I've been experimenting with various car repair videos lately. Although I'm not sure how to apply these techniques on my car right away, I do enjoy watching people fix their cars. DIY videos are instructive and easy to follow. That's when I realized there was an additional issue. Then or later, internet was not working on my phone so I couldn't watch anything or engage in any activity whatsoever, as we all know these days nothing works without internet, even those fast and easy "do it yourself" videos.... And so I found a great solution - preparation.. I was able to download Youtube videos onto my phone. Even though internet is slow, I can watch DIY videos on my smartphone. It makes no difference whether you're watching the video on the phone, whether you streaming it from a site or some place online, or download a video from home and then stream it on your phone when there's no wifi or any online access. It's as simple as DVR for all your online videos and not only TV shows.

My pure joy at downloading new episodes and movies directly to my laptop, is proof of the power of television. My laptop is much more comfortable than my desktop and has better speakers. I signed up with HULU and Netflix. Both allow you to download their apps and mark the film to download. Then, in just a few hours, based on how long the show is, and what quality settings you selected, the video will be downloaded to you device. You will then be able to watch it any time whether you have internet access or not. It's only 15 minutes long but allows me to catch up on the episode I was missing on the train ride to work.

There are other kinds of interesting or educational material I can find at home, and then bring along with me on my work trips to make my time go by faster. YouTube's webinars are great. But it's difficult to stay focused on the content when you're interrupted several times. If you aren't convinced I'll explain. You get the idea.

Sometimes, I bring my son to work. My wife's night shift is too late, and it's hard for me to stay home with my child. So I take him with me, put him in front of the screens on my computer where I can monitor my own work, and in a matter of minutes, he's asleep.. If he awakes, I bring him my laptop and some music videos, and he's taking in the show. This is what makes us feel more comfortable as a couple, when we each do our own thing. It's possible that he likes going to dinner with me. Maybe because he likes to be up late at the night.
