An Unbiased View of Grail Tarot: A Templar Vision By John Matthews - World of Books

I have actually been less than positively impressed by a few of Casellis other Tarot art work that Ive seen recently, but in this deck his design is totally different and has a practically pre-Raphaelite feel to it, with timeless lines, clear colours and warm, Mediterranean light throughout. In the book, John traced some of the folklore and legends surrounding the Knights Templar and the legends of and search for the Holy Grail, and having some awareness of the period from a historical as well as a spiritual point of view, I was prepared to be distressed by the perpetuating of specific populist myths and mistakes.

In the real style of the deck, he tampered with the typical images and names of Tarot cards considerably, as he tied the Significant Arcana to a hunter pursuing the history of the Grail and the Templars, and tied each of the matches to the four Hallows (or spiritual objects) of the Templars.

In reality, I find it lucid and smart if a bit one-eyed, and I have invested enough time with the deck privately and publicly to know that it works and works well. In particular, I enjoy that in the Major Arcana the backgrounds bleed from one card into the next, resulting in a prolonged single art work encompassing all twenty-two cards, and I like the gentleness and the hopefulness of the questing spirit that pervades the deck.

I am not a Christian. And in fact, I am never going to be Christian. The Most Complete Run-Down , when I was more youthful and more energetic, I would have found this element of the deck offensive and in-my-face, in fact, but not so today. Now I am less happy, and I value gentleness and compassion any place I discover it, even if it is in a kind I do not personally subscribe to.

The Best Guide To Review – The Magdalene Legacy Tarot

On the other hand, those who do not will discover it intriguing and intriguing along with visually rich and really appealing. To me, despite cards featuring the ascended Christ, Mary Magdalen et al, it doesn't seem like an exclusively Christian deck, more a deck using Christian language to express a universal human yearning and seeking.
