Blank Minecraft Server File

I've downloaded the java model instead of just the exe. file as I have seen others with the same downside try to fix the difficulty this way. I'm certain that the exports and imports for the IP address connections and have entered the 25565, and listed both TCP and UDP or whatever. I use the CT-5374 which is a Comtrend router. However the Minecraft server file; the stats, log and chat, and players all present up clean. However it does not list it as a "java" or ".jar" or whatever after the file name. I'm unsure what the issue is aside from it's having to deal with the blankness but I'm tired of running into all of those issues. I have been troubleshooting for practically 3 straight hours and still cannot appear to quite fix it. I can be a part of onto my multiplayer server, but my pals can not, and I am unsure of what to do now.
