How To Find Diamonds In Minecraft Diamond Level In Minecraft 1.18

My all about video games

Minecraft 1.18 introduced several important changes to Minecraft's world generation. You can play Minecraft 1.18 or later and move below Y-Level 0 to get into negative figures. Below Y-Level 0, all the usual ores including Diamonds will be embedded into Deepslate blocks.

To locate Diamonds in Minecraft 1.18 you'll have to dig to between Y-Level 15 and +63. However, to maximize your chances of finding Diamonds you should head as far down as possible before reaching bedrock, because the spawn chance for Diamonds increases the further you go.

For more information on where you can find highest concentrations of Diamonds or other resources, check out the graph below of the distribution of ore in 1.18

As you can see in the screenshot below, Minecraft's 1.18 update has significantly altered the way in which ores appear. Each ore's distribution is shown with a bar that changes in thickness depending on Y levels.

Thankfully the formula for Diamond is fairly simple: it starts generating at Y=15 and increases linearly in frequency the further down you go. However, diamond placement is also subject to what Mojang call "reduced air exposure" in 1.18. This means that diamonds that are placed in Diamond placed close to an open-air block during world generation won't be able to spawn. This makes it difficult to find diamonds embedded in cave walls and other similar structures. If you wish to maximize your chances of finding them, you'll have to spend time digging through the deep slate.

In short, to locate diamonds quickly take a trip as low as you can go until you get to bedrock then start strip-mining!

To determine the Y-Level you're on, hit F3 to bring up the coordinates display. The current level of your lower half is shown by the second number following "XYZ".

Although not as powerful as Netherite tools, they are still vital for any world or Minecraft server Diamond tools are essential. Diamond tools are crucial. Just make sure that you keep an eye out for the Warden when The Wild Update arrives!

How to locate Diamonds in Minecraft 1.17

If you're still playing on Minecraft 1.17 or earlier, then you'll be able to find Diamond Ore in every Overworld biome that is between the Y-levels of 1-15. They appear most often at levels 5-12. If you'd like to increase your chances of finding Diamonds in your Overworld biome, then keep your sights on these two levels.

Whatever version of Minecraft you're playing on, Diamonds will spawn in tiny veins of up to 9 blocks at a time, although sometimes you'll see larger veins comprised of multiple veins touching each other. Even at the appropriate levels, Diamonds are pretty rare.

The best method for mining Diamonds in Minecraft

Only an Iron Pickaxe is required to mine Diamond Ore. Diamonds are rare in open areas such as caves. Therefore, it is important to strip-mine in all directions to increase the chances of finding them in Minecraft.

The best way to mine Diamonds in Minecraft 1.18 is to dig down to level 57 and then dig an extensive 2-block-tall tunnel in any direction. Then start to mine out on either side in 2x1 tunnels, leaving a 2-block gap between each new tunnel.

If you're satisfied that you have extracted all Diamonds at that level, you can continue the process at level 53. If you dig in this manner at both levels -57 and -53, then you'll be able to see all Diamonds that form between levels 58 and 51. This gives you the highest amount of Diamonds without intermittently running into blocks of Bedrock that could otherwise hinder the progress of strip mining.

This method works with Minecraft 1.17 and earlier versions. However levels 6 and 10 are required.

While mining, it's a good idea to keep an empty water bucket on your person as pockets of lava are quite frequent at these levels. To light your path and keep mobs out of your tunnels, carry plenty of torchlights. You can also use Night Vision potions to lighten your path, but this will not prevent mobs spawning.

This is all you must learn about how to find Diamonds in Minecraft fast. However, just diamonds are not enough. You'll need look up our guide on Enchantments to learn how you can enchant your equipment to make it as strong as it can be. Check out all about video games if you have trouble finding Diamonds. Some of them can make it easier to spot ore. When you dig, make sure to be on the lookout for Copper, the new mineral that was added in 1.17. It can be used to create amazing new tools like the Lightning Rod, and other fancy designs.
