Urgent Recall For Big W Kids Shoes Over The Potentially Life-threatening Defect

Eight popular light-up shoes that were sold at Big W are being immediately recalled

Product Safety Australia has recalled Caprice Australia's light-up thongs due to fears that the two batteries could be an injury risk to young kids.

The PSA stated that the small battery compartment on the thongs could be exposed in time which makes it easier for children to access the two small button batteries.

It stated that young children can inhale the button batteries and suffer serious internal burns that could cause serious illness , or even death.

"Button batteries can also be the risk to children who are just starting out.

The thongs can be purchased on the internet and in stores at Big W from September 7, 2020, however they have not been sold since May 11, 2022.

The thongs are on sale on the internet and in stores at Big W from September 7, 2020. However, they have not been sold since May 11, 2022.

Customers are asked to immediately stop wearing the shoes and return them at Big W Australia for a full refund.
