A printer is an outside equipment output device that takes the digital information kept on a computer system or various other device and generates a difficult copy. For instance, if you produced a record on your computer system, you could print several duplicates to give out at a personnel meeting. Background of various printers and how they work

Mechanical printer

The first mechanical printer was invented by Charles Babbage, for use with the Distinction Engine which Babbage developed in 1822. Babbage's printer utilized steel poles with published personalities on each pole to print text on rolls of paper that were fed through the device.

Populate matrix printer

IBM produced the first populate matrix printer in 1957. However, the first populate matrix impact printer was presented by Centronics in 1970. To produce letters and pictures, the print head, which includes pins, rests over an ink bow. This bow relaxes over a notepad. As the print head moves throughout the bow (usually horizontally), the pins push right into the bow to imprint ink into the web page (such as a typewriter). As these pins print several dots, you can see where this printer obtained its name.

Inkjet printer

While inkjet printers began being developed in the late 1950s, it had not been until the late 1970s that they had the ability to recreate good electronic pictures. These higher-quality inkjet printers were developed by several companies, consisting of Canon, Epson, and Hewlett-Packard. Inkjet printers resemble populate matrix printers because the pictures they produce are made up of dots. However, the dots on an inkjet printer are fired into the web page instead compared to using a bow and pins. In the very early 1970s, Gary Starkweather invented the printer while operating at Xerox by customizing among their model 7000 photo copiers. However, it had not been until 1984, when Hewlett-Packard presented the HP LaserJet, that printer became more commonly available and affordable. The following year, Apple presented the Apple LaserWriter, which presented PostScript technology to the printer market. Printer are more complex compared to their precursors.
