WoW Classic WotLK Server Rules & Restrictions
Blizzard has introduced a new set of Fresh servers to WoW Classic Wrath of the Lich King in an effort to provide unique experiences for players.
These servers will be completely new and will not permit players to ignore the level 55 requirements for Death Knights. This means that all players will need to start at level 1 as everyone else.
So how do these WoW Classic WotLK servers work?
These new servers will have the following rules and restrictions:
- A character you have created on Fresh Start realms will not be allowed to be upgraded for at most 90 days. Fresh Start realms are not available for character transfers for at least 90 days.
- Death Knights cannot exist on these realms without a level55 character from the same realm.
This move is exciting and will be welcomed by the community. However, the transfer policies could end up being detrimental to the process.
Because players can still transfer their characters to the new servers after the 90-day period, This means that the reset of the economy or power level of players may be futile. Players can transfer in characters that have already been fully established and may even carry the gold cap.
It remains to see if Blizzard will change these rules or limit the amount players can bring along with them to server transfers.

WoW Classic WotLK Schedule
Blizzard has revealed the planned launch date for Classic WotLK in its latest blue post. This includes each stage of the process and where the team is now.
This process was described as the following over the next few months:
Transfer restrictions between PvE and PvP have been removed*
- Wrath Classic closed beta testing
- Retired Classic Era Clone Service
Consolidation of existing realms
- New Fresh Start Realms with Wrath Classic pre-patch
- Wrath of the Lich King launch
WoW Classic Server Transfers
Server transfers are hot topics when it comes to the new WoW® Classic WotLK servers. After the initial 90-day period, server transfers to these new realms can be allowed once again.
Character transfers in WoW Classic have been available for many months. This was because players from smaller realms wanted to consolidate and have more content options. We have no assurances yet that these character transfers will remain free for WoW Classic WotLK, or how they will be handled in general with aspects like PVP to PVE realm transfer restrictions, character limits per server, and more.
