Nearly two years after Minecraft's Steve joined the DLC roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, his (and his female Alex's) amiibo will finally hit store shelves on September 9.

Twitter was where Nintendo announced the release date of Minecraft's amiibo. The announcement was accompanied by a short video that gave fans a glimpse at the final designs for the Steve and Alex amiibo. The designs are identical to the original blocky designs.

While initially announced for a release in spring 2022 however, the Steve and Alex amiibos were delayed until later in 2022 "due to a logistics and production delay."

Now that Minecraft's Amiibo collections have a launch date, Nintendo is nearing the close of its Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo line. After Steve, the final characters left to the company to convert into amiibo forms are Sephiroth, Pyra and Mythra, Kazuya, and Sora, the final character added to Smash Ultimate. However, it's not clear whether Sora will be given an Amiibo.

We looked at Steve's appearance in Super Smash Bros as an DLC fighter. Ultimate and gave his gameplay a 7, calling his faithful portrayal of Steve "impressive" but pointing out how some mechanics "can also lead to some frustration."
