How to DM on the mobile app

To send a message to someone via the app, first ensure that the Twitter app has been downloaded to your phone and that the user is logged in. Then, open up Twitter. Tap the envelope icon at the bottom of your screen to open Twitter. This will direct you to your inbox for messages.

To start a new message, tap the icon. It's an envelope with an X.

Once you've opened up an email, you can type the username or name of the person you'd like to send an email to. You can also send messages to multiple individuals.

In your message you can include a photo or video by allowing access to your camera or gallery or a GIF by tapping the GIF icon to search and choose from the media library. Once your message is completed you can tap the paper plane icon to send.

You can also DM an individual via their profile page by clicking the envelope icon next to their name. This will take you to a new message window.

How to DM via a web browser

On a web browser, be sure you're connected. You can access your messages inbox by clicking "Messages" on the lefthand side of the screen.

Once you have opened your mailer Click on the envelope that has the plus sign icon.

This will open an email window. In this window, you can type in the username or name of the person you would like to contact, and click "Next." In the message window, you can add a photo or video by clicking on the photo icon or add a GIF by clicking on the GIF icon. Once your message is complete click the "Return" key or click the paper plane icon to send.

Click on the envelope icon next to their name to DM an account. This will send you an email with the account in your inbox.
